Anyone have any really good websites about this never-built attraction? If Disney ever chose to built it in the future, is there still land available behind Big Thunder Mountain? I know Jim Hill wrote a series of articles about it that I read, and I've seen concept art on some other sites, but I would like to see everything that's out there about this never-built ride!

WDWMagic reported at one time that disney bought 20 acres behind BTMRR.... Don't know if it's true or not????

Future WRE

This is really interesting. Could such a thing become part of a North American section of DAK? Why not go ahead an add it to the Magic Kingdom sometime in the future. Frontierland is a really busy part of the park. It would help to spread people out, and bring in more easterners and foreign guests.

They already have a few of the designed AA's made (Big Thunder and World of Motion sets).

WDWMagic never reported that Disney bought land behind BTMRR. Disney owns all the land around their parks. This is why you don't see anything that's not Disney throughout WDW. The land behind BTMRR has always been owned by Disney. In fact the North Service Area is located about a quater mile north of there.

Edited: Sorry, I got confused, it said that they will use 41 acres behing BTMRR for the fire mountain project.....

But would it be necessary?

Considering they built PotC, BTMR, and later Splash Mountain, is WRE even necessary any more? My understanding of it is that it is just like PotC but with a "Cowboys and Indians" theme instead of the "Pirates versus Spaniards" theme. If they do built it, they should alter the original design to make it more appealing to today's park-goers... maybe add "thrills" such as going down big water falls, real explosions (like Catastrophe Canyon) and the like.

What about the rumoured fire mountain?

News regarding this just suddenly stopped! Anyone know why?

Yeah, I know. Paul Pressler was in charge when this decision was made. Originally, there was going to be new E-ticket attractions built at each of the four theme parks a couple of years ago. Mission: Space was the only atrraction that survived this round. As the story goes, Pressler thought that none of the parks needed expensive attractions and said "no" to all of the proposed rides. When Eisner learned that all these rides were shot down by Pressler, Eisner intervened and overturned Pressler's decison, but only on Mission: Space. The attractions that got Pressler's axe were Fire Mountain at MK, Forbidden Mountain (now getting built) at AK, and I forgot what was planned for MGM.

Fortunately, Pressler is out. That's why E-tickets were approved this time for each of the parks.

Why would this ride bring in more easterners and foreign guests?

Well, it seems to me that one of the reasons people go to places like WDW is to have experiences that they can't get any other way. A Western River Expedition seems like it might be something that easterners might not get a chance to experience first hand in the wild, but could tie it in with a trip to a large resort like WDW. I know that many foreigners are very interested in the American West (Germans, for example) and might be interested in coming to WDW if they thought there was even more of a Western experience than there is now.

It was approved. Well, phase one is anyway.

The stunt show re-location is phase one. Phase two umm, replaces umm, the current show with a clone of something from Disneyland. ;)

EE maybe one of the talked mountains but it's definetly not all the mountains were planned to be! (Fire mountain was supposed to be a volcano, EE doesn't look like one)

Are we talking about INDIANA JONES???!?!?!?! Hmmmmmm?????

If so, PLEASE let it not be a CLONE of what's in DL!!!!! DL has a good ride, but a clone is not worthy for WDW... TDS's version is sooooo much better (from what I read and seen pictures of)... so I hope they create something much much better for WDW!!!!

Since when has WDW gotten the better version of a clone? Tokyo always gets the best. I mean, we can hope for some enhancements, but don't hope for a lot.:)
