April 25 2003: WDWMAGIC Subscription
From today, some areas of WDWMAGIC will now only be accessible to subscribers.

WDWMAGIC now receives an average of 1 million page views per month. The increasing visitor traffic to WDWMAGIC has driven running costs to a level that I can no longer afford as an individual. As an example, as of week commencing 24/03/2003, data transfer is averaging 2MB/sec, which has a bandwidth cost of $1500 per month. While the advertising on the site generates some revenue, it is only funding 20% of the site costs. The options available have come down to closing the site, or charging visitors a small fee for the parts of the site that they wish to use.

If I subscribe, am I paying for content?
No you are not paying for content, you are paying for bandwidth (or data transfer). Bandwidth is the cost to WDWMAGIC for transferring the web pages, graphics, sounds and videos from the webserver to your PC.

If I don't pay for my usage of WDWMAGIC, what will I be able to access?
WDWMAGIC Guests will still be able to access the whole website, but will not be able to view large versions of photos, sounds and videos.

What methods of payment are available?
Currently, only PayPal is supported. PayPal was chosen due to PayPal's large number of existing members, support for international accounts, and reduced risk to both members and WDWMAGIC. Now are these videos and photos posted on the MAIN site or on the forums? If its on the main site.. How will that work? What if I move and get a new IP Address or such? Will there be a seperate Log In?

Videos and photos are posted on the main site.
You will get a new username and password for the main site. Your forum username and password remain as it is now.
Its not linked to an IP address, so you will be ok there.

Looks like there are still a few kinks to get out. When I try to log in it ives me a 505 error (page not displayed). Is this just me or are other people having the same problem?

And I've already done the whole paypal thing, and it said that I would receive an e-mail with my new username and password. Now I have two questions...

1) I have not received this e-mail, about how long does it take?
and
2) Does that mean that I won't be EchoOfOphelia anymore??

Don't worry, you'll get the email in 30 minutes or so. That's how long it took for me.

As for your screen name, it'll not going to change. You'll just get another name for the main site (I believe).

Apologies for the delay. There was a problem with the mail server which prevented your confirmation mail being dispatched. I have just cleared the problem now, so you should have the email any moment now.

You will remain with your current username and password on the forum, review site, and photoalbums (of which you now have 20MB storage instead of 1MB). But you will have a new username for accessing the main website.

Site Video

I have signed up to be a member to access the videos and such as I enjoy them very much. They keep me going until the time when I can return to see Disney in person. The only thing I am having troubles with, is it comes up saying url redirection over limit so I can't see the video. Didn't take long for it to be overloaded. I am hoping that when I return later, I will be able to get it. Otherwise, I don't think it would be worth paying for the bandwith when I won't be able to use it.

Hi Steve - I signed up through Paypal yesterday at the $35 level. I received my login information very quickly - Thanks!
But a question - will my user name indicate that I am a member or is that just at the next level up - and, if so - can I upgrade to the next level? I think it's good for visitors to see that alot of people support the site, it might encourage them to join - or, at least increase their curiosity as to the advantages since so many of us "belong"
