Polynesian Lobby Smell

Anyone have an update on the status? Supposedly, they were installing new air fresheners in all of the lobbies. Is the old smell still there or is it gone?

I ate at Kona Cafe the week before Christmas. I had never been in the Polynesian before, but I didn't notice anything strange about the smell in the air. I must say, however, that the atmosphere in the lobby made me feel like a kid in the 70's again. I didn't like the lobby "feel" at all.

The Poly's lobby has a distinct smell to it, or at least, always has. Hard to describe. Something to do with the plants and flowers in the lobby. Rumor had it, it was going away.

I know just what you mean and never knew how to put it in words..but you have nailed in on the head. I feel it should have a more open fresh feel to it.

Which I loved. I hope it's not completely gone.

This thread explains a lot. I was there two weeks ago, and when I walked into the GCH, I was totally thrown. After years of that smell, it jarred me when it was gone. I loved that smell too and I'm so bummed now that it's gone. I can't really explain how it smelled with the new air freshener, all I knew is that the nostalgia was gone for me.

That saddens me a great deal. That's one of the things Disney seems to have lost touch with. I'm BIG on lobby's, as I spend a lot of time at night relaxing, taking in the ambience. I may have to switch over to GF now. Sounds utterly ridiculous, but that smell was a big part of the GCH. Especially just walking in there to check in. It hit you like a ton of bricks, and it was wonderful.

I hear you... oh well, it is fresh in my mind from the times I strolled through. I am finally staying there this summer so either way I'll be pleased
