DL's NEW Parade - "Soundsational"

Click the picture to enlarge

They have finally announced a new parade for DL - Mickey's Soundsational! The parade is expected to debut next year. I believe Steven Davison is working on this parade (he also worked on a similar parade for Tokyo).

I can't wait!!! :D

Today, we’re sharing the first preview of the artwork for Mickey’s Soundsational Parade. It gives you a glimpse of the vibrant colors and exciting array of Disney characters that may appear on the streets of Disneyland park in 2011. Plus, there are a whole lot of exciting elements for the new parade that can’t be captured in this artwork:

  • The parade is an explosive music festival with thrilling rhythms and bold percussion that will bring to life some of the most beloved melodies from Disney films.
  • Live musicians will amplify the fun. Mickey Mouse and some of your favorite Disney characters will play live and will encourage members of the crowd to join a giant jam session.
  • Lively dancers will stomp out rhythms as a syncopated drum line, twinkling cymbals, steel drums and more entertain guests with sensational sounds!
The parade promises to be the most foot-stomping, infectious festival of music you’ve ever seen — or heard! I’ve heard it’s “soundsational!”
What do you think of this new parade? Is there a particular parade float in the artwork that you’re most excited about?

YAY!!!!!!!! I see Princess and the Frog and Tangled in that concept art!

If only this followed immediately after Parade of Dreams but no complaints a new parade is a new parade! and it looks like there once again pushing the concept of a day time parade from just characters waving on a float with some dancers to more of Parade of Dreams, Pixar Play Parade(DCA), Jubilation(TDL), Once Upon a Dream(DLP) and Water Works(HKDL)

And a Steve Davison parade too! Cant wait to see this and what he has in store of HKDL and TDL's new parades as well.

Wow, beautiful parade. Very reminiscent of Jubilation over at Tokyo. I'm glad DL is getting a new parade, but WDW's Magic Kingdom hasn't gotten a new one for almost a decade. Well, an insider here comfirmed some time ago that a new parade and castle show will be announced for the 40th Anniversary. I guess we'll have to wait for that. Hopefully it's not another Dreams Come True Parade. I want something grand and Tokyo-styled like what DL is getting.

This looks even better than what I had imagined when Al Lutz talked about it a couple months ago!

I am so excited for the Mary Poppins carousel float! The whole parade just looks really clever and a great mix of old classics and new favorites. Who would have ever thought we'd get a Three Caballeros float? Talk about obscure! But Fun!

2011 is shaping up to be a HUGE year for Disneyland! And it looks like May will be the big kickoff month! Everything else opens in May, so I'm sure the parade will too, if it doesn't get going earlier in the spring for Easter Vacation.

ALL NEW and Opening May, 2011:

Little Mermaid, Ariels Undersea Adventure
Goofy's Sky School
Paradise Garden Shops and Restaurants
Star Tours 2.0
Soundsational Parade

I wonder if he will be working on DCA's parade as well? The one that is supposedly coming in 2012.

And yes, according to Heather on the blog, Soundsational will be a traditional parade and will do show stops along the way (a la Parade of Dreams I suppose.)

WDW could use some Steve Davidson.

Disneyland seems to have a great future ahead of it. The park is astoundingly beautiful and well-kept, and with E-tickets and other park improvements impending (not to mention a new parking garage), it seems to have smooth sailing ahead.

Quoted for truth. I mean just a little over a year and already a new parade! Wow.

Is that Giselle from Enchanted on the Princess float? I though they basically killed her character.

I don't see her. Looks like Belle, Cindy, Snow, Aurora and Rapunzel to me.

I think you're right about Giselle being thrown into the Wasteland...mainly because Disney didn't want to pay royalties to Amy Adams to use her image, from what I've heard.

Just an FYI Main Street will be undergoing more repaving work from Jan 18-March 4.

The Main Street repaving first started in 2009, before C!ASP arrived.

So HKDL just debuted their brand new parade "Flights of Fantasy" for the 5th Anniversary, if you look at Minnie, Goofy and Chip and Dale's costumes in Flight's of Fantasy and Soundsational, they appear to be the same. No big deal but Flight's of Fantasy looks and sounds great should be a good indication that Soundsational will be just as great.

nemofinder22, thanks so much for that link!

Now... let's just hope the Soundsational Parade doesn't try to match this frenzied pace they have in Hong Kong. I honestly checked my YouTube connection twice, thinking that maybe I was watching the video on some sort of high-speed mode. Parades are certainly frenetic and fast in Tokyo, but they seem to have taken it to a new level in Hong Kong. It almost seemed surreal and un-human watching it.

Americans have gotten much fatter and slower in the last 20 years, and Disney parades are changing because of that, but the pace and speed and physical fitness of the performers in this Hong Kong parade makes us seem like morbidly obese tree sloths in comparison. :o

Still, I do have to wonder what sort of energy drinks they are giving these kids in Hong Kong before parade time?

agreed, that parade moves away too fast! It's a bit short for a new parade as well, surely? especially after Jubilation! It's really well designed I think, so it should be slowed slightly so there's time to appreciate it and so all the music elements don't run into each other. Also, no show stop?

Looking forward to what Soundsational has in store though :D

The floats IMO are moving a bit fast kinda reminds me of POD when the castle float always had to catch up lol. Theres so much great detail in the floats and costumes.

There is a show stop to Flights of Fantasy, I cant really tell whats going on but the guest participation is kinda weird to me, it will probably get more fine tuned down the road.

I love the use of the band in the parade, I really cant wait to see what Soundsational brings to DL. Anyone know more of its debut? I'v been hearing May. The Main Street repaving will last until March if I remember right. May is also the expected grand opening for Star Tours, Mermaid, Sky School and Paradise Gardens. If it is May it will be like 05-05-05 all over again smaller scale of course.
