Aren't there cameras monitoring the guests who ride inside the mission space simulators to prevent what happened today?

There is a thread over in the "news" section talking about this. Best not to multiply the threads!

Plus, your question is addressed over there!

No there are no video system monitoring guests, as it is not possible to assess 160 guests at the same time to determine their health.

Well, I think there better be! I deserve/expect someone to continually monitor me when I'm on Disney property. God knows I can't take care of myself.

???
huh, then whats that room you pass waiting in line going up to the mission briefing area and the ride simulators?
You can clearly see a room with cameras and CM's off to the right.
As i can remember ,from when the last time i was there in Sep.2003,the cameras even though they are in black and white ,they are monitoring each and every guest as the ride the attraction.

Those are actualy fake. While they are monitoring cameras on the ride itself there are no cameras on the guests while riding the ride. The black and white video is pre-recorded and if you pay attention is always the same people.

Thanks for the FYI,
i didn't know that.

When my family & I went on Mission: Space last summer, my mom asked all of us if we got alot of air near the end. She said she felt like she was going to pass out & cool air immediately started blasting on her. We assumed they monitored riders, & would adjust the air to prevent sickness or passing out.

It's good the CMs were able to give CPR - I figured they would have a paramedic on staff at each park at all times. Or do they have to wait for Reedy Creek to arrive?

Reedy Creek Emergency Services operates 4 main stations around property, however RCES also have local operations at each of the four parks, one of which is actualy behind the Wonders of Life. Many cast members are also trained in CPR and the use of AED's.

Yeah, you did.

You can send videos afterwards in the Advanced Training Lab, just sending a regular video, saying hello, or there are different themes. (You can be in a space saucer, etc.)

I read the boy died in the the ambulence, why wasn't he taken to the hospitol by helocopter?

Well simply its easier to go by ambulance. He was taken to Celebration Hospital if i read reports right. There is no point in waiting to get a helicopter to fly him a few miles. In the time it takes for teh helicopter to get there and land somewhere he would be half way there in an ambulance. And i dont mean to be harsh here but if the child was suffereing from such severe ill-effects im not altogether sure that it would matter how they travelled the few miles to Celebration. Simply the use of a helicopter wud just be impractical.

In my experience most full arrests are not taken by helicopter due to lack of control of an airway. Ground transport can be stopped easily compared to air transport.

Right enough, also helicopters are only ever used in emergencies if the person has suffered a severe trauma but is still concious (thats not right i know but its late here lol) and in remote or busy areas where it will take a relatively long time to get to a hospital, even with a police escort.

Very well said.
