And the theme park wars continue... Blackstone is a rapidly growing presence in Central Florida. Should be an interesting decade.

I know this is going to be the themepark amazing things since the 90s with Disney worlds FL Expantion ,UO Harrypoter land and See world and now this wow!!! I think everyone that plans to add more days to thare vacation. If you can do 2 weeks like we do and buy season pass to disney and then depends on how high the price to enter the park go form!!!

Sounds interesting... both my kids are big lego fans at the moment, and would enjoy this. I actually find this more interesting [potentially] than Universal or Seaworld, and we would rent a car to check this out. I would imagine that they will try to retain as much of CG's natural beauty as possible, so we could see more of "old-school" Florida, as well as some fun rides.

I'm hoping that increased competition would again encourage Disney to counter with some similar attractions at WDW. Maybe the rumor of a revived Monsters Inc. "Family" coaster at DHS is connected to the Legoland announcement.

I do wonder what this means for the Lego store at DTD... Disney might not want a giant commercial for a competing theme park in the middle of their shopping village. But there would sure be a big hole without it.

I can't wait to visit. I've heard a lot of good things about the park in Cali. What does this mean for the Lego store in Down Town Disney? DTD can't afford to lose another Store/attraction!

Sea World is a great park right now, if you haven't been lately the park has been receiving lots of TLC

How much are they investing into the new park?

I believe the governor said that Blackstone is investing hundreds of millions. It'll be the largest Legoland in the world.

The original figure that was leaked by the mayor was $150 million, but that number doesn't reflect the scale or scope of what has been announced. To make the resort a multi-day destination, the investment will be far greater than $150 million.

No doubt the state will help them out somehow though. As the Gov. said, "it will bring jobs, jobs, jobs". Something for which most states will gladly foot part of the bill.

This will create more jobs for central Florida, which is a great thing! Both the construction jobs, and then the permanent jobs at the park and its support facilities. It may also encourage longer stays in the area and possibly even an increase in frequency of repeat visitors. There's already so much to do, and this will be one more.

I think that when it first opens, it may have a negative impact on Disney as some people will carve another day out of their trip to see something new, other than Disney. Being tied up with the same part owners of Disney's competition, they may come out with their own hopper style pass - USO, IOA, SW, BG & now LL.

Anyway, 2 great things: Jobs and more fun! Maybe Mr. Obama can take a lesson on job creation from this - it's called construction!:lookaroun

I think if Disney is smart they will keep the Lego store as is. The big draw to the park is going to be the kids. If parents who really don't want to go are being nagged by their kids they can use the store as a compromise and spend more time at Disney.

The problem is not disney but why would the company who runs the store keep the lego store open when they have another one in orlando in the legoland park ?

lol, I never got the concept of Legoland... why Legos!? They're just blocks...

Oh well- I'll still give it a shot.

I wonder if this will affect Lego in DtD?

Lego also runs a large store in DTD on the west coast with Legoland not to far away. I don't see why Disney or Lego would pull the plug on their store in FL.

Well this is good news for Cypress Gardens Boulevard. There's really not a lot of stuff down along that stretch near Cypress Gardens park. But with a Legoland on the way, I imagine there'll be a lot more restuarants and shops popping up down near the entrance. Should be interesting to see how it affects Winter Haven too. Right now, most of Winter Haven is OLD people (I'm talking owning a pet dinosaur old). Should be interesting to see it all unfold. When does construction start?
