When will they ever add their next big thrill ride for EPCOT??

They just got mission space and sourin is coming this summer...

As far as the future goes for this park I hope they add thrill rides to world showcase so theres more energy and the lands are brought to life more. I have heard that they were thinking of putting a river rafting brother bear mountain in Canada to block out the views of sourin's hanger, but i dont know if they are still considering that.

If any of you have ever read about the plans for Dinseyland's second gate, Westcot, that never got built, then you may have read about the thrill ride in the china section of the park. If not, they were going to build a fast thrill ride on the great wall of china and over some mountains. I dont know what ride system it was supposed to be, roller coaster, rocket rods/journey to the center of the earth, or test track, but your vehicle was supposed to look like a dragon. Since the park was going to be surrounded by all of anaheim and they didnt want people to see the outside world from the attraction, as you crested one of the hills, the wings or body of the dragon were supposed to fold up and enclose the train so you couldnt see out of the park and you were riding through the inside of the dragon. I would like to see something like htis added to the china pavilion in the future.

Soarin', which doesn't offer a lot in terms of physical thrills (i.e. G-forces, inversions, etc.) but does offer a different kind of 'psychological' thrill (the sensation of flying/handgliding), will open in a few months as part of an expansion of the Land pavilion as well as MS that just opened last year. That's two new big thrill rides at Epcot since Test Track opened in the late 90's ;)

EDIT: I see this was covered above...sorry for the duplicate info.

Hi, RCMAN. Welcome!

Does anyone have any details on the Raging Spirits coaster being built at TDS? This sounds very similar...

I hope you were not thinking that Mission Space was like IASW or Winnie the Pooh. If MS is not a Thrill ride, then I'm Ariel....

Epcot has become a pretty big thrill park (thrill rides vs. number or total rides). Once Soarin' opens, there will be three real thrill attractions which puts it on the same level as the Magic Kingdom and the Studios.

Soarin isn't a thrill ride, not even close to a thrill ride. Unless you count ITTBAB and HISTA a thrill ride. The seats do move slightly, but nothing in terms of thrill. I think their are some concepts in the work for the now seasonal WOL pavillon but until the other attractions open and the effect on the attendence and guest has been reviewed, nothing will be green lighted.

Think Temple of Peril with better/more themeing.

(...and a cool poster which I would love to attach to my post, but I can't figure out how you folks do that. Anyone care to fill me in on that?)

That sounds like TDS... although in all respect to DLP the way Temple of Peril is themed is incredible - the level of detail is so high (like the rest of the park) if it wern`t for the rectangular layout you wouldn`t know its off the shelf.

As for posting, only Premium members can attach to posts. The alternative is to drop it into your album and post a link. Go on... lets see it!

Lee, do you have any links on more details about Raging Spirits? I`ve trawled the regular TDL/S sites and wondered if you knew of any `specialist` ones?

Cheers.

I agree. With the given budget the outcome was amazing. Just goes to show what WDI is capable of with or without a massive budget!

I've been waiting for their next big thrill ride since Test Track Debuting not long ago probably like 2-3 years since.

It's already been answered, but yea, Mission: Space opened in '03. Also, Test Track was 6 years ago, January '99, if I'm not mistaken.

Nope...I saw today several attached photos in posts made by "WDWMagic guest"s. Whatever...

Anyway, here is the Raging Spirits poster.

I don't know all that much about the ride. The layout is VERY similar to Temple of Peril, but with the addition of water and fire effects and an enclosed portion. They are spending a bit over $60 million on it, so it should be pretty nice.
Supposedly, when the archaeologists found the ruins and started to rebuild it, they put the head of an idol on backwards, unleashing a curse on whoever enters the temple. Sounds pretty cool.

Is it another Intamin?

Not sure...I tend to think it is, but I've heard that it may not be. I'll try to find out.

I was thinking that because Disney seem to like their Vekoma's at the moment. Do you know if they had a falling out with Intamin after California Screamin', Lee?

No, no falling out.
Screamin is performing pretty well these days, aside from the audio which isn't Intamin's fault.
