Should we change from POFQ?

Hi

We have booked our holiday to DisneyWorld for Christmas 2010, 18th December -1st January with Virgin. We have booked to stay at Port Orleans French Quarter. We chose this resort as it is the smallest moderate and because of the boat to Down Town Disney, plus it is 1st pick up on the bus. Whenever we look at pictures of Riverside we are unsure that we have made the right choice as Riverside looks really beautiful.

Is the bus transportation and small size worth keeping the reservation at the French Quarter, or are the bus pick up and size of Riverside not much of a problem?

I have never been to either of the resorts, I have always stayed at Coronado Springs so any advice on what to do would be really helpful.

Thanks

The bus will pick up at French Quarter first, which is great, because once it gets over to Riverside, it's going to get packed. I stayed at Riverside for Christmas one year and taking the bus was just dreadful. So, going *to* the parks from your resort shouldn't be too bad, because you'll be the first ones on the bus. However, when going home *from* the parks, French Quarter and Riverside usually share a bus (except at the Magic Kingdom when it's busy), so the line will be insanely long.

Do not change your stay. You will find the bus service at POFQ equal to or better than CS. The resort layout is also so much better than CS.

French Quarter is very very nice. Visually stunning - I'd put it at the same level as the Riverside.
I've just put up a lot of photos taken very recently.

Here are recent RIverside photos

I think you've made a good choice. I pretty much rank both PO and Coronada at the same level, with Caribbean Beach just below.

POFQ is the right choice for sure!

With the better bus service, smaller layout, and great scenery, it really is a good choice.

You can walk on up to Riverside, since it's POFQ's sister resort. Its only a few minutes up on a nice path along the river's edge.

POR is a beautiful resort, and is certainly worth a look while you are there. But with such a sprawling layout and four bus stops, it's just a little too big for my taste.

I've stayed at both, and defintely say POFQ is the way to go.

Whatever you decide, have a great trip!

STAY PUT!
FQ only has 1 bus stop. When it shares with POR it's the first stop in either direction.
Plus being small your room is only minutes away from bus, food and pool.

I'd also recommend staying at POFQ. But if you have time take the 10 minute walk down to POR. Use the pool, restaurant or food court if you want.

yep. I agree...Stay at the French Quarter. It's easier access to everything, including first on bus route, and it has a really fun pool.

Riverside is beautiul, and much more quiet, but you can experience all the same things with the quick walk there! Both resorts are pretty awesome.

Here's another vote to stay put.

Getting to the parks is the most important thing, especially over Christmas, you don't want to be wasting valuable time waiting for buses.

Yet another vote to stay put. We always stay at POFQ because of the size and the buses. We rarely go to POR unless the bus is going to a waterpark. We have always managed to hop on and go where we are going. This may be rare, but its has happened the last 3 times we have stayed there.

Also one of the great perks of staying in the Port Orleans resorts is that while you stay at one, you can use the amenities of BOTH!!!! So it is kind of two for the price of one. Either way would be great but I say since you plans are done, go with your first instinct. You will have a great time in either resort!!! Belle

I stayed at POR and thought it was the BEST...and then stayed at POFQ last year and I loved it even more. Do not change to POR...you will love the fact that FQ is smaller and easier to get around, and the busses are a lot different then Riverside. We never shared busses with the other when we stayed at POR or FQ.

I love POFQ!!!

We stayed at POFQ with small children and it was very very nice that everything is right there. Friends that came with us on the same trip stayed at POR and they did not like walking distance around the resort but still loved it. Only minor set back is the table service is at POR. I'm from New Orleans area and it was like being at home........Awsome!!!!:)
