The monorails have reopened today. I did not see it posted; although I did not have the time to search. Hopefully it will be a better day for WDW Guest & Cast Members

Yeah especially in this economy money talks... I'm sure their financial department had to figure out how to pay all the extra bus drivers and extra diesel that was required for yesterday.

Please dont make accusations like that without any basis in fact.

This was an event where a person died. Please lets try to keep at least one thread out of the "WDW budget" bit of doom.

...Well, has the Monorail service resumed normal operation? :lookaroun

Better question, have they let anyone to the front cabin yet?

I will still want to ride the first cabin with the driver.

Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA) have now released the monorail system back to operations. It will be reopening today (expected between 10 and 11am)

Additional verification of switch track status has been added and procedures have been updated.

Very good news. Didn't think it would be this quick.

Is Disney doing anything to honor Austin?
I know that the National Park Service wears a black band on their badges when they have lost someone.

Well it seems with Steve's posts all of our concerns as to what changes would partake have been answered with the exception as to whether or not we can still ride in the pilot's cabin. Do we have an answer to that as of yet?

Sounds good, Steve! :sohappy: I assume it had to reopen today, with summer crowds still in full swing.

Well that was quick!

I am assuming it not something like additional sensors or a camera.

I am thinking a CM under the switch with a raido who says "yeah, the switch moved"

Cameras and sensors can come later. A pair of eyes and raido conformation can get the system back up and running with a quick procedural change.

Of course this is all assumption

Yes
I much as I hate the Orlando Sentinel here's a quote:

"Walt Disney World is reopening its monorail system today -- with new safety sensors added to monitor track switches, according to a note to employees this morning."

Basically confirms what we were discussing in the other thread the Pink wasn't switched to the correct track - IMO

Good news. I expected to be down longer...

I don't believe there is any way they would be back in service this quick if OSHA didn't have a good idea of what happened and was sure it wouldn't happen again. So that is good news.

However I'm speculating on that but probably not much.

Very glad to hear that the system is back up and running-- honestly, I was under the impression that the monorails wouldn't be running for some time, so it's pretty impressive that they are already back on course. I did notice that they were running a train in the opposite direction on the Epcot beam yesterday evening around 7:30, more than likely running tests, so it seems like they were hard at work last night getting the monorail system back up and running for today's crowds.
