Magic Hours

How do they know I am staying at the resort?

I have stayed at the resort a number of times and not once did they check to see (in the late hours)

Do they check resort ID? Could I just bring an invalid resort ID (I have about 12 of them)

TIA

And, don't get all uppity about my trying to circumvent the rules. It sucks, but we had to stay off property this time.

I have absolutely been asked to stop and show resort ID for Extra Magic Hours. I know it seems tempting, but I wouldn't try it.

Personally we always skip the EMH's in the evening and then go and watch a movie in Downtown Disney. It makes for a relaxing evening.

Just a suggestion, have a good trip!

I talked to a Tower of Terror CM back in Jan. about the whole EMH thing. I asked why did they get rid of the wristbands which was so much more convenient for the guests and CMs IMO. And he said it was about them going green or something like that. He also said that by just showing the room cards its easier to cheat the system and that he wont be looking at the dates just the colors. And I can say that by using an emh at Epcot about 2 weeks ago, most of the CMs I encountered looked mainly at the color and not the date. So as long as you have the current color, which may change with this new celebration going, you might be good. I wouldn't encourage it though.

Speaking of using old stuff, remember when the FP were the soft square like papers? Remember when the dates were so tiny that you could basically use one from 2 years prior? Well, with the current FP type, has anyone tried to use an old one and been successful? Im not talking about an old square one or the rectangular ones with the day and date on it, but the current one with the month and all of that. Has anyone used an old one and have it work? Im curious. :lookaroun

Not to get uppity - but this isn't cool. Sorry. :o But to confirm the answers...they do check at the turnstyles coming in when you get your wrist band. And in front of rides - they will check for your wrist band and if you don't have, they will check your resort ID.

They havent done wristbands in quite a while and before that they didnt let you show your room key. They also didnt give wristbands in the morning when they checked your key at the turnstiles.

There are probably CM's who do check the date, and CM's who really just glance to make sure you have a card. You never know who you're going to get. I don't remember having our resort ID checked very carefully last summer but I can't be sure.

Every time we've been to morning EMH, our room keys were never checked inside the park. They were checked at the gate when you slid your park ticket to enter the park.
For evening EMH, they did check room keys. The CMs must be trained to speed read room keys because it didn't seem like they were studying them for valid dates.

In our experience, it didn't seem like they were too nuts about it  but still I wouldn't try if you're staying off grounds.

I don't really think it is a good idea to cheat the system. You usually end up getting busted one way or another. I'm truly sorry the OP couldn't stay on property, but that doesn't make breaking that rule okay.

Well, since EMH are a perk for on-property resort guests, and you will be staying off property this trip, you would not be eligible for that perk. Trying to cheat the system by using an old ID card is lame.

Sorry, was that too "uppity" for you?

Yeah they check. If you do go, I hope they catch you and ban you from the parks.

Ms. Uppity

They check for the room key...but when I was there three weeks ago, not once did they give it more than a passing glance. There's no way any of the CMs looked at the dates, and that was at all parks.

When I was there last summer they still had the wrist bands. I was in Epcot, you had to go to either the French or UK pavilion and you would show your card and they'd give you a wrist band.

In the morning I don't believe I have ever been checked.

*sigh* This would be so much easier if they hadnt gotten rid of the wristbands in the first place.

They check before you enter the park, but thats only if its during the emh time. If you arrive there earlier, you can skip the room key check at the gate.

And honestly, with all the people having to pull out their room keys for each attraction, even for those who are riding a ride over because the line is short, it seems like most CMs would say, "Screw it, it looks close enough, go ahead." The wristbands should have stayed, and it would have made it that much harder to cheat the system.
