Select Disney Locations to Offer Reusable Bags

I don't get it. Who is going to really carry around a reusable shopping back to the various souveneir stores and theme parks?

I think it's just another way to make some money playing on the green theme. Not that someone may not buy the bag and use it for shopping outside of Disney, but I don't think it will really get used that way in the resort.

I haven't seen those but there were a few for sale that came in a little pouch and was easy to refold in July. I saw a lot of people using them in the parks. I'll be down later this week and am taking the one I bought with me and plan on taking it into the park when I plan to do most of my shopping.

I believe the idea of reusable bags is to use them at home, not really at the parks.

They are just available for sale at the parks along with every other kind of Disney branded merchandise.

I echo your statement. I don't think they're meant to be used at the parks, but for normal, everyday grocery shopping back home.

Personally, I would love one. Or more.

Haven't they had these for a while (without the green theme)? I remember them selling reusable bags last October 07. I think it's only the art that's new.

Sorta off-topic, but isn't one of the joys of arriving at Orlando International Airport seeing people departing for home with their WDW shopping bags?

I guess we'll soon see these reusable bags more often. And that's a good thing.

I would absolutely use them from park to park, I hate going home with 600 plastic Disney bags, by the end of the trip I feel like Im drowning in them.

I will definitely be buying one or more next July when I go! I think they are a great idea. We all need to do our part I guess, so this is a great thing they are doing. Just like everyone else said, I think they will be great to use when you get home. I think plenty of people will still use them in the parks. I carry around a bag with me a lot when I am in the parks and now I don't have to worry about the plastic one and worry if it is going to tear or not.

OK, I hate to sound like a bigger Disney geek than I am, but those plastic bags were a souvineir item for me on my trips, sadly. The lowest-cost one in the parks too, right next to guide maps and Key to the World cards.

Not that I don't think reusable bags are better for the planet, but it kills me to pay for one. :)

I don't mind paying for one, but $2.95 is kinda hefty, considering I only pay $1.00 for the ones they sell at the local supermarkets, Target, etc.

Triple the price is a large premium for a Disney-fied bag!!!

I too feel like I'm drowning in the disney plastic bags, so now I have started refusing them and put my purchase in my tote bag that I generally carry with me. I don't want to have that many bags in my room that I'm only going to throw out, it's a total waste.

I take all my Disney plastic bags back home with me and reuse them! But that being said, I do like the reuseable bag and would probably buy a couple! We do use reuseable bags at home so it's a purchase that would get its use. $2.95 is certainly more expensive than the ones sold in the grocery stores but I'm still surprised they're selling them so "cheap" - I figured Disney would sell them for more!?!

We utilize package delivery at Disney, I'm not sure the reusable bag would work there. Since we stay on property we never carry around our souveniers and we always use delivery.

I'm all for reusable stuff, but this is clearly a marketing bit by Disney to piggy-back on the green movement while making a buck. We got our reusable bags free at Cub Foods.

I also utilize the package delivery, I don't use it for small things like a pin or one t-shirt which will fit in my tote bag that I carry, this way I don't have to be bothered about picking it up at the resort store.

Disney has been working on being green way before it was the in thing, it was more behind the scenes, but now they are bringing it out to the guests. Hey, if there is something they can gain a profit from and people want it, why shouldn't they provide it. Their program is called Environmentality and Jimmy Cricket is the representative for it.

You're lucky to get your bags free, no place by me gives them free you have to buy them and they are anywhere from .99 to 1.99.

I bought a few when I down in August. I through them in my purse and then I need to go to CVS or grocery store to pick up two or three things I use them instead. I also carry my lunch to work in them. Of course I work for a sustainability company so this stuff is kind of drilled into my head.

I would rather see a reusable, refillable cup with a refill charge for the theme parks like the resort cups.Save on the cost of paper cups, and lids.

I'm with you on their efforts being in the right place. In this case, I just think they're capitalizing on a movement (which is fine, I'm good with it). We don't always get the bags free. You just have to wait for the coupon. $1.00 - $1.00 coupon. They come a few times a year.

My wife loves reusables, we have them for all the grocery stores we shop even from Wal-Mart and Target in the times we head there. I have to say they carry alot and usually cut down on the amounts of bags I have to carry into the house LOL. She brought one on our last trip and we seemed to fit everything including two full sweaters for nighttime trips and it was fairly light, now that they have Disney inspired ones she'll be all over it. I might call and see if I can surprise her with one. I still have to follow up and see if I can get her a "Green in the New Black" shirt from DAK....they were out of her size the last time we were there.
