Dear Fellow Adventurers,

As we are all aware of, Disney is planning to close all of Pleasure Island on Sept. 27, 2008. While many would like to see Disney change their minds on the whole concept, there is a huge push to keep the Adventurers Club alive. Personally, I have found that The Adventurers Club has become a home away from home, where guests can become lifetime friends with other guests as well as the characters that roam it's hallowed halls. I'm sure that I am not the only one who feels this way, so I am including in this post links to TWO "Save the Adventurers Club" Petitions as well as the addresses to Upper Managers of The Walt Disney Company, to send physical letters to. Please inform everyone who loves Pleasure Island and the Adventurers Club of this post, to repost it to every Disney Fan Site, to sign the petitions and send letters to the company’s executives. Remember, while a stack of letters can be thrown away, it is not as easily dismissed as the pressing a delete button. Please, flood the Executives mailboxes (both physical and electronic), with multiple copies if need be. While many might believe that it is a fruitless effort, please remember that Disney is supposed to listen to its guests and if they receive enough comments they will eventually have to listen. And If they don't, we will at least have tried our best!

Honestly, how many times do we need to hear this?? Please don't make this another ZOMBIE THREAD(The threads that just won't die!!)...

All the petitions in the world won't save AC at this point. Even if it did, it would only delay the inevitable, as much as we would like it to stay. Sure petitions and write-in campaigns might have worked for some TV shows, but they didn't last long after they were renewed...

Put a fork in this one.. Sadly, it is done:(..

I could not disagree with you more. It is always worth the effort to stand up for what you believe in. This is very important to many of us here. So I say, send emails, letters and phone calls. Sometimes people just do not know the negative feelings that will result from their actions until they ae told. Think of it like putting sand bags up to reenfoce levies along the Mississippi river. Everyone said it was useless. They would never hold. In many cases they were right. Some though, did make a difference. You never know until you try.

I Wish I could.

I'm very annoyed with myself because I've never been! I had planned on going on my recent trip but illness and other things kept getting in the way.

Perhaps I could kick myself all the way to WDW?

I could not agree with you more . I don't understand these negative posters that say to stop trying because nothing is going to happen. We all know that all of our efforts are a long shot but its better to try than to do nothing. Personally, I keep thinking about the amazing people that bring Otis T. Wren, Pamelia Perkins, Samatha Sterling, Fletcher Hodges, Hathaway Brown, and Emil Bleehol to life every night. The Adventurer's Club has an amazing group of actors and actresses that put so much heart into every evening.

If you've been to the AC you know what i'm talking about. What harm would it do to click on the petition links and put your name and email on the list? It only takes 30 seconds but it could be a big help.

I think this sums it up nicely...

The Adventurer's Club Creed
We climb the highest mountains, just to get a better view.
We plumb the deepest oceans, because we're daring through and through.
We cross the scorching deserts, with martinis in our hands.
We ski the polar ice caps, in tuxedo looking grand.
We are reckless, brave and loyal,
And valiant to the end.

If you come in here a stranger,
you will exit as a friend.

You are delusional if you think an online petition or write-in campaign will save the AC. Believe me, I love the AC as much as the next person, and it was the only reason I have been buying Premium Annual Passes for the past several years, but it is flatout GONE as of 9/28(The tyhoon from the lagoon across the street flooded the island for good, it seems).

Go ahead, and write in if you'd like, but you will be lucky if you even get a generic email response saying thanks for your input. I have it on good authority that any emails with the AC as a subject are going straight to the trash folder. And online petitions are always a subject of laughter and 'fanboi-ism' to the suits.

Remember Save Toad...?

No amount of emails or petitions will stop them:fork:

Yes, I do remember Save Toad. I remember alot of failed petitions and "Save..." campaigns. But the thing you don't seem to realize is that these are not all about stopping the suits from whatever your fighting for. Thats the goal but really its about making your voice heard and sharing your opinion. And you mentioned that online petitions are a subject of laughter and "fainboi-ism" to the suits... I don't doubt that, but every one of those Cast Members at the Adventurer's Club have a computer and I can guarantee they appreciate the showing of support.

So go ahead and call us delusional, but at least we care enough to try to do something about it.

I appreciate the efforts people are setting forth to save this club, but you have to realize that the decision to close PI was most likely made MONTHS ago - Disney only announced it yesterday. I wish for everyone's sake that this could make a difference, but even though I don't want to be a "Debbie Downer" I think that what's done is done.

Flame me if you want to - but I am just being realistic here. In the big picture - Disney is going to do what they want to do.

E-mails are easy to send. Letters make a bigger impression and are harder to ignore and filter.

Write a concise and well thought-out letter, print it, change the addressee and repeat. It will take you just a few minutes plus a few dollars in postage.

Will it help? Probably not. Does it hurt to try? Definitely not. We are already looking at the worst case scenario (the club closing) so you never know....

Well on the plus side, we'll now have 5+ years of "The Adventurer's Club is returning" rumors. MOD's, can we just sticky the first one we see, to spare us the creation of new threads.
