"Screamscape has been informed that the management at the Magic Kingdom has decided once again to not run the Christmas version of the Country Bear Jamboree for the second year in the row. The lower level management protested of course, reminding them of all the complaints they had last year when the Christmas show was given the budget ax, but apparently this was shrugged off because those were just ‘verbal complaints’. Apparently Disney management feels that verbal complaints hold less water since they carry no physical presence and are often made hastily, while anyone who sends in a written complain is taken more seriously since they have the paperwork to deal with as well as the fact that the guest took the extra time to actually write something and send it in.
Since this is the second year in a row that they have tried to skip out on the Christmas show, it pretty much leads one to conclude that they are ready to get rid of the show forever and may never bring it back if something isn’t done. So if you would like to see the Christmas version of the Country Bear Jamboree show brought back to the park then please send your written comments to:

This is one of my UTMOST FAVORITE things at Christmas, it hasn't felt the same since they stopped it. I really wish they would bring it back this year...

If they can pay to make the castle sparkle and the lights dance. Why cant they pay to have the bears sing christmas carols?

I really wish Disney would pay more attention to the Classics that don't get the respect they deserve. I can't honestly say that Hall of Presidents, COP, and Country Bear Jamboree are my favorite attractions, but to see them being neglecting bothers me a lot. These aren't the best attractions ever made, but they're reminders of the "magic" that has made Disney what it is today.
BRING BACK THE CHRISTMAS BEARS! PLZ!!

I can't see them getting rid of the actual Country Bears show itself. Shame they aren't doing the X-Mas bears though.

I'm afraid most people just don't care enough to write. Comments need to be written and submitted, action needs to be taken.

Look at Epcot 25....and what can be done!

...and I was sure that there was enough fuss and that they would be back this year...:cry:

FYI, here's the letter I sent to them last year when I heard the show wasn't being changed over. Surprisingly I did receive a response from Disney stating that they were sorry but the show would not be performed and that they hoped to have it return in 2007. Apparently that's not gonna happen

To Whom It May Concern,

I don't know if this letter will be read or even considered but I feel the need to write anyway as I feel very strongly about this.

I'm a frequent Disney World vacationer who has visited your resort more than 15 times. And although your decision to cancel the Christmas version of the Country Bear Jamboree will not deter me from visiting I am extremely dismayed and saddened to hear of the possible cancellation of the Country Bear Christmas show. I have to question the cost/benefit analysis behind such a decision. As the overlay equipment and props have already been purchased and are in storage the actual cost to complete the transformation must be insignificant in total dollars but to vacationers like myself this overlay only adds to the overall holiday experience within the park.

To have Disney even considering such an obvious ploy to save what could be no more than a couple of pennies in the overall scope of things seems so beneath Disney standards. I implore you to reconsider your decision and perform the overaly on this classic attraction. I have enjoyed the Country Bears ever since I was a toddler and the Christmas overlay just made it that much more special and now I'd like my children to enjoy this classic attraction the way I and countless others have and in order to do that the overlay needs to be in place. Please reconsider and perform the Christmas show for the Country Bears.

After all this is the Year of a Million Dreams.

Thank you for your consideration

Thank you, bfbulldog, I will be using your letter as a template for the letter I construct to send to WDW. I strongly encourage everyone here who has any future plans of going to WDW at Christmas, or enjoys the CBJ in general, to write a letter. You have a vested interest in showing support for this attraction so 1) the holiday version comes back sometime, and 2) so that the attraction itself doesn't close for a perceived lack of popularity.

I can definitely sympathize what all are feeling. I was so looking forward to the Country Bears Holiday Show at MK and when I heard it was pulled, I was saddened. I was looking forward to seeing a show I had never seen before (since we usually go in the fall).

I hope they bring it back or at least reply to the messages.

Mr. Phil Holmes

Dear Mr. Holmes,

I'm a frequent Walt Disney World vacationer who has visited your resort more than 15 times. Most recently, I visited in August 2007 and stayed at Saratoga Springs Resort. This Thanksgiving, I will be visiting again to celebrate the Holidays. In preparing for the trip, I stumbled upon news that for the second straight year, Country Bear Christmas would not be performed.

Last year, I was not overly concerned about this loss, as I understood it was due to the resort’s ability to secure the rights to a couple Christmas songs. This year, although your decision to cancel the Country Bear Christmas will not deter me from visiting, I am extremely saddened to hear of its cancellation. My party has always found this show to be one of the highlights of our holidays; it is a ‘plussing’ that illustrates the resort management’s attention to detail. With Walt Disney World management beginning to show an authentic interest in minutiae previously only seen in their West Coast elder, I find this decision even more disconcerting. Have those in upper management so quickly returned to their old ways of quantifying all decisions in dollars and cents? Decisions like this are the reason Walt Disney World is looked down upon by guests who primarily frequent Disneyland.

Further, if this decision was made from a cost-benefit mentality, I have to question the analysis behind the decision not to run Country Bear Christmas. As the overlay equipment and props have already been purchased and are in storage the actual cost to complete the transformation must be insignificant in total dollars. However, to vacationers like me this overlay adds immensely to the overall holiday experience in the park. There is no quantifiable way to ascertain the lasting impact the attraction would have with guests. Just as there is no way to quantify how this will impact guests who, ten years from now, are influenced to go back after reminiscing about the attraction overlay they saw ten years ago.

To have Disney even considering such an obvious corner-cutting ploy to save a paltry amount in the overall scope of things seems beneath Disney standards. I implore you to reconsider this decision and add the overlay to this classic attraction. I have enjoyed the Country Bears ever since I was a toddler and the Christmas overlay has always made it that much more special. It saddens me to think of the countless children who will visit Magic Kingdom this holiday season for the first time, and will be unable to enjoy this classic attraction the way I and countless others have. Exit polls and other research can only reveal so much; it is not possible to quantify every aspect of an overlay such as this. Please reconsider and add the Christmas overlay for the Country Bears. If you don’t, someday you may realize you have lost a lot more than studies ever predicted.

If you do, you will have at least one less ‘dream’ to award during this ceremonious year.

Thank you for your consideration,

Thomas B. Bricker

Well, apparently, the same music licensing issues that kept the Bears from doing their Xmas show last year (particularly with the song "Rudolph the Red-Nosed Reindeer") have not been straightened out yet.

The thing that gets me is the Rudolph bit is only about 2 minutes of schtick at the beginning and is barely sung. Seems like they could redo it or even just drop the initial heads sequence to get by it completely.

Last year we were down at disney for christmas. We were told that they didn't do the christmas bear show because the attraction was going down in January for referb. and they didn't want to take it down twice (once to get ready for christmas and then the referb). Thats what we were told. Anyone else here this?

I wrote a similar letter last year (via e-mail), and got the same response.

I hope they change their minds.

And here's what they sent back to you:

Dear Mr. Bulldog:

Thank you for your letter regarding the Country Bear Christmas Show. We want to know that your opinion is important to us.

We here at Walt Disney World, during this our Year of Million Dreams, in which you can experience all new attractions and shows throughout all of our 4 theme parks, take pride in the fact that we have the ability to take away life's little pleasures, such as, but not limited to, a Christmas show featuring animatrnoic singing bears and having a cigarette on your balcony. Although you may have enjoyed this experience, we are still committed to our founder Michael Eisner's philosophy: "If the guests like it, let's get rid of it!"

Please accept this gift of two Disney dollars as a token of letting us spit on your fond memories at Walt Disney World.

Have a magical day.

Love,
Al Weiss:drevil:
