Magic Kingdom doesn't. (Don't even get me started on Mickey's Very Epic FAIL Party)
.

I was kinda thinking of Holiday Wishes, Dream Lights, Mickey's Twas, Once Upon a Christmastime Parade etc, but obviosuly the big stuff is at teh Studios and Epcot. I'm with you on the Parties - not a big fan. I am starting to think the bubble may have burst on those anyway.

HM is pretty much perfect IMHO. Recently refreshed, very popular and a 1971 classic. Why change it if it's not broken?

Use the $$$ to bring TLM to FL or fix something in EPCOT (JII, TT?)

I do agree that for now the money can be used elsewhere.

But one of these days...The three ghosts, The Ghost of Country Bear Christmas Past, The Ghost of Small World Holiday Present, and the Ghost of the Haunted Mansion Holidays that could've been WILL haunt them...

Disneyland really only has it's holiday edition fireworks and the two attraction overlays. For locals I would imagine that those two overlays are really a big part of the holidays at DL, hence the big lines for it - they want to see it.

Well, there's also the Christmas Fantasy Parade. And stuff like Santa's Beach Party Bash at DCA. Even DCA gets in on the decorating, like at Flik's Fun Fair all done up for Christmas. And Disneyland does an amazing job of decorating the entire park for Christmas, not just Main Street. New Orleans Square is jaw dropping at Christmas.

They ship in reindeer from Alaska to sit with Santa Claus out at Big Thunder Ranch for gosh sakes! :D http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=spqH-WF0pSE

So true! Disneyland's Frontierland is so beautiful at Christmas. Ours has not a garland to be seen.

Yep it's great decor (at least at DL, I thought DCA was laregly non existant for the holdiays), but there arent really any significant actual holiday attractions, other than the two overlays and the fireworks. That is why I believe you see big lines at those attractions during the holidays. It's DL's main holiday draw.

Well no, "they" - WDI, WDW management, ops and research, have concluded that it wont increase guest satisfaction - infact it will increase guest DISatisfaction with the mansion being closed.

WDW has plenty of seasonal events in the majority of the parks.

Are these those surverys that are fixed to get the results Disney wants to get???

And they deem the money is betetr spent elsewhere?? Like building a parking lot in Tomorrowland?? A Stitch Dance Hall in Tomorrowland?? or even worse: STITCH'S GREAT ESCAPE??

Someone over in Disney is not doing their job good enough with the money saved from not running HMH...

Most folks consider the Christmas Fantasy Parade, twice per day, as the "big" holiday draw at Disneyland. And the snow fireworks. But it's the Christmas Fantasy Parade that is the "must see" at Disneyland for Christmas. Historically, at least. And with my Mother.

They've done a decent job of freshening it each year with a new float or new element. I prefer to see it during the evening performance, and on slow weekdays they only do it once in the evening. It's hugely popular. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=w2ZsCohsbLw&feature=related

As I understand it, you have to buy an extra ticket to see the Magic Kingdom's Christmas Parade at WDW?

Nightmare stopped being obscure when Disney decided to release it to 3-D theatres every Halloween, sell Nightmare merch at Disney Store year round (with extra stuff at Halloween and Christmas), turn Villains in Vogue and Madame Leota's Cart into Nightmare centra,l sell Jack Skellington ears, make big parade floats in China based off the movie, etc.

I guess if your 40+ it's obscure, but the characters are everywhere and young people are very familiar with them. I don't buy that argument for a second.

I also don't buy the "Disney conducted research" that says it would ruin vactions. It's the same kind of research that tells Disney nobody wants bonus features on thier DVDs. It's conducted to please penny pinchers not interested in the yearly investment.

HMH would be a hit, no quesion about it in my mind. As would other holiday overlays be, but why bother when you can just keep the money for yourselves?

You have to pay to see it for the parties, but once the parties are over it runs regularly for all guests. So all depends when you want to see it. If you want to see it early, you need to pay, if you can wait until Christmas, it's on Mickey :)

Well neither of us are going to ever know that, but I would doubt the entire WDW research dept was bent. Disney didnt get where they are today by being idiots, they do on the whole know what they are doing LOL

you're actually calling directly for '74 to interject his swayed opinions in this thread about how mismanaged the entire company is and how they lie about everything because everyone there is about the bottom line?

And you are ESPECIALLY calling for him to confront one of Steve's posts directly!!!

what has this forum come to...

But some folks act like Disneyland exists solely on locals, and WDW exists solely on tourists. The truth is somewhere in the middle.

Which is what I typed. "The middle" isn't accurate, though. If anyone tries to say that there aren't more locals at Disneyland (a lot more) then you're spouting falsehoods.

As for proof, it's about as hard to find as sugar in a candy store. Check out the percentage of visitors from out of town versus the local passholders.....there's your proof. Both places know where each customer is from. Period.
