Premium Pass Opinions?

This is kind of an odd thread, but...

I've been discussing with my mom over getting a WDWMAGIC Premium Pass for Christmas. We've had a few "disagreements" about it, but she wants me to get some "testimonials" from people who have a Premium Pass. So, any opinions on the matter would be greatly appreciated. Why did you get a Premium Pass? What benefits do you get? Is the payment/Pass "secure"? (Mom wants to know this last part...

I don't blame her. If important information gets into the hands of the wrong people, that can cause huge problems, but I think WDWMagic is trustworthy.

I make my payments to Pay Pal & they in turn send the money to Steve. I use that account for ebay also and have never had a problem. You do not send your account numbers to Steve.

I got one because I was feeling guilty for using so much of Steve's bandwidth by hanging out here so much. That's pretty much the only reason. :lol:

It's worth it for the photo storage. That's what I'm using it for now at least.

WDWMAGIC doesnt get any of your personal information, so there is no risk there. All payment information is handled by PayPal, and all WDWMAGIC receives is the payment, and confirmation that it has been accepted.

I know, I was refering to PayPal. I wouldn't suggest that you would do anything. We don't really trust PayPal, or anything that transfers money over the internet.

Basically the risks with using PayPal are the same risks associated using your credit card anywhere on OR off the internet.

I think I mentioned this before, but my cousin had a classmate working as a checker at Toys R Us who would keep people's CC info and use that to make purchases. If you really want to be safe, you have to be cash only.

I signed up for the same reason as Laura :wave:

Exactly...nowadays, once you use your credit card, your card number and information, etc...is stored on some electronic database somewhere that can be hacked into...I work at a bank, and it amazes me the retailers that get their networks hacked into...I think I will never use a debit card after seeing the stuff that happens....

I've used PayPal to pay for stuff online (including my subscription here) for a couple of years now...mind you I only use the credit card service...I don't have the thing hooked to my bank account to anything...lol...and I haven't had a problem yet.

Try it out for a month...and if it seems worth the money, pay for the annual subscription (that way you have one transaction to worry about, instead of having to deal with monthly transactions)....

Personally, I felt that supporting this site was the right thing to do...I'm here so much...:lol:

As long as you can verify that you have a secure connection to PayPal (and not a phishing site, or whatever), then things are very safe.

You can check the security of the connection if the padlock is in the status bar (in IE), or via numerous ways in Firefox (see screenshot)

In Fx, the address bar goes Yellow on a secure connection, and a padlock is added to the address bar. The Status bar shows the url of the security certificate, which will match with the actual address if the site is genuine. Another padlock appears down there as well. Double-Click that and a pop-up window opens detailing the certificate and shows that 256bit AES encryption is used.... that is VERY high.

Ogryn's post reminds me...I haven't seen one yet in my box...but beware of emails claming to be PayPal...telling you to update your info...chances are it's a scam to get your info...if an update is in order...don't click the link on the email...but go to directly to paypal. The same goes for any credit card company email. Lots of identity theft happens because of these very sophisticated-looking emails/links.

Just passing along some info...in case you haven't heard this stuff before...

But like I said before, PayPal is safe.

It really bothers me that there are people out there stealing the working person's money (not that its right to steal from the rich, but they have the resources to make up for it...:lookaroun ) I mean, thats like stealing food from a homeless man.

Just because IE says Internet and Outlook Express says Email, doesn't mean they are the only option...

Don't take anything for granted on the internet and you'll be fine.... even I can make an email scam ^^^ :lookaroun

It started out sounding almost legitimate... I thought it might be one of many surveys we've had (since we live in a new subdivision). He even had an Eastern sounding accent with an Anglo sounding name, so I figured it was an outsourced call like everything else these days. He asked what mall we shop at, stuff like that and then it was "Which bank do you use?" I said, "I don't think you need to know what bank I use." He yelled @&** #@&#^@^#* *#&$*#&$*#$& and hung up :lol:

The sad thing is, he's probably screwed dozens of people in nearby Sun City.
