Can any character hold a baby?

We are headed down in about two weeks with our kids and our 9months old. Are there any character that can hold a baby? When my DD was 9 months we went and DH or I held her but now we want a pic with just the kids. I was thinking perhaps the Princess's? Ariel has a child so she would know how to hold a baby right?:ROFLOL:

From my understanding none of the characters are allowed to hold a child. Some CM's may bend the rules from time to time but I would never ask one to do so.

Some of the princesses held my son when he was 5 months. I never asked. They always asked me if it was ok. Cinderella wouldn't give him back. Pooh at CP held my dd when she was 6 months. He insisted too. At first I didn't know what he meant then I figured it out.

What might be more common would be that the character might crouch or kneel down on one knee and allow you to hold your child on their knee for the photo. I've seen this done a number of times.

CMs who actually hold the child are opening themselves up to big risks if there were an incident.

When my daughter was 9 mos I took her to see Mickey and Minnie (separately) at their houses. It was during an xmas party so it was quiet in there. They both got down on the floor and played with her and held her hands so she could stand up. They were great and did it on their own.

From my experience, most do kneel down on one knee instead of holding a child. However, Prince Charming held my DD when she was 3 at Cindy's Breakfast and he got a big ol kiss on the lips from her! Talk about an incident (just the other way around) :ROFLOL:

I guess I will see what happens when we are standing there. I was pretty sure the big fluffy characters would not be holding her. I had though I had seen pictures and with my own eyes Princess holding children. I am pretty sure I saw is at Askrhaus (sp?) with a small toddler. I would never ask for fear the answer would cause the Charater to stumble a bit and my other two kids pick up on it.

Would you really want a character with poor vision and poor handling skills to hold a baby? I wouldnt put myself, or the character in that position, no matter how cute the photo might be.

wdwmagic, NO I would not want a fulffy character holding my baby. Like I said in a previous post. Also I am a parent so I would not be so concerned with putting "myself or the character in that postion" as I would be the BABY! You know the human that the "character with poor vision and poor handling skills" would be holding.

Well the baby wouldn't really have any say would he/she? That was my point. It basically comes down to the parent and the character. For any Disney character, holding a baby is not something they want to be doing.

I can tell you that officially, the characters are not supposed to hold any children. Unofficially...that would be up to the specific character. However, I would have to say the majority of characters would not hold a child (at the most would get down on a knee and put the child there).

It seems that although the rules are against it, face characters are more open to the idea than masked characters.

We're going to WDW this week with our 6 month old daughter. I don't think I'm going to let masked characters hold her, but if Prince Charming wanted to hold her, I'm not going to say no - talk about your photo ops!

I bet that was a very cute moment.

It is going to be pretty unlikely. Meet and greet characters are specifically trained not to hold babies, and for very good reason.

It makes sense. Putting myself in their shoes, I know I would not want to be the one that drops a baby. I certainly would not want to be the parent whose baby gets dropped!
