    Ditching Disney

might have just been timing, but last summer groups of drunk adults where pushing my kids, spilling drinks on them, and generally behaving badly for a kids theme park. funny thing about drunks is that you don't notice how obnoxious they are when you're not sober too. my kids are plenty worldly...

I think “The Magic” is mostly gone for me…

Yes standards for food have changed a lot! I think many younger people do not understand just how much more quality food is available today compared with the 70s 80s and 90s. If my kids school served what I was fed as a child someone would probably get fired. Standards and expectations for...

    Magic Band+

It is fun to take advantage of the interactive elements in star wars land, but other than that its basically jewelry and another opportunity for an up-charge. If the visual appeal of the band is worth the cost to you, or you want to do the interactive star wars stuff go for it, otherwise don't...

Dining Plans Return for 2024 / Park Reservations End for Dated Tickets

I never went for the dining plan but got it as a "free" deal years ago. It did not seem like a good deal for my family who other than me eat like birds. However with teens/preteens now I would prefer to have a dining plan to simplify the budget and planning. My last trip I was getting anxious...

    January-February 2024 24-day trip

I second this advice. Staying at a moderate or value after staying in a deluxe will feel like a real downgrade, I say this from experience. Going from a value to a deluxe reinvigorates a trip. Your budget must be astronomical to be planning such a long trip. But don't forget it is easy to spend...

How Does Somebody Get an EV Parking Space at Disney World?

Good question. I charge outside, 220v 20 amp circuit, 16 amp charger (~3.5kW). Its not a problem, the car warms the battery up to maintain charging. I have a 32amp charger but have not bothered to install it because the 16 amp is doing just fine and is gentle on my electrical service. In...

It is pretty amazing how the FL legislature is so willing to do whatever DeSantis wants. They are remarkable in their solidarity for better or worse.

How Does Somebody Get an EV Parking Space at Disney World?

Worrying about the cost of an EV battery is like worrying about the cost of the engine in your car. The battery will last the life of the car it is not something that gets replaced every few years and most are covered by 100k mile warranties now a days just like the drive train in a gas car. I...

    Disney World in August

yes August is another level of heat and humidity in FL. It is not a good time for those who do not really really like hot weather and have a high tolerance for wetness. Sport sandals are a good idea too otherwise your shoes and socks will be soaked. As others have said, August is to be...

Can you still activate park tickets from a package before check in?

Hi Everyone, In the past it was possible to activate the tickets purchased with a package a day early if you arrived before the hotel reservation. I would like to know if that is still possible in 2023. More specifically I would like to take advantage of one of my waterpark visits using a...

    Disney World in August

I was there last August, every afternoon there was an intense tropical downpour. MK had flooding with some attractions having a good cm of water on the floor in the entrances (laugh floor, Buzz). Imagine standing under a waterfall for an hour, so much rain it is hard to see.

News Reedy Creek Improvement District and the Central Florida Tourism Oversight District

I think we WDW fans are overly optimistic about this, neither party is "winning" everyone is losing other than the lawyers, and there is reasonable potential for changes that will diminish some of the things that make WDW special, among them the "bubble"

    Is genie + worth it

G+ one time for each park is a good idea, maybe first visit to each park see what you can get done without it and then buy it for the second visit to make sure you get your priority attractions in, or the other way around. I know some recommend G+ first and othre G+ for a second visit, I think...

I thought others would also find this a helpful map as I did. https://www.disneyfanatic.com/wp-content/uploads/2022/03/Screen-Shot-2022-03-31-at-9.17.54-AM.png RCID controls a good chunk of land and it does seem to be enough to damage the "bubble " if that was the goal. Seems to be a case...

I think I got part way to an answer https://forums.wdwmagic.com/threads/maps-of-the-reedy-creek-2010-2020-plan.935133/ so would the areas currently marked as "conservation" and "public facilities" be the target land of this revenge policy?

I am very curious to see a map of what is owned in whole by WDW and what is RCID, does such a map exist online? I want to know where this new non-disney theme park or prison could be built.....

    Is genie + worth it

three weeks , dear god, you would have to pay me to stay that long. My longest visit was 10 days and the whole family was thoroughly ready to get out of mouseland and back to the real world by day 9. But I live in a city so my ideal vacation gets me away from crowds and lines, the little ones...
