Good afternoon all.....To Gabe and all I posted my new introduction, husband approved! If you are interested. I'm pretty much an open book, with a typical life, except for a couple occasions , the funeral home era, and the farm era with one really funny story. Thanks for letting me start over.:joyfull:

I read and I did learn. Here I thought you were still in the Midwest with me.

I've had so many blood tests that my veins just close up or roll, once they insert the needle, then they start digging, until I say go somewhere else you idiot.

There are phlebotomist certified specialists. Most employees drawing blood with just keep digging without calling in someone more skilled than they are. I give them one try usually resulting in one bruise, then request the specialist, this also works when they are sticking in an IV.

Allergy season finally hit me last night! Didn't sleep well at all and finally broke down and took some meds. I'm either going to need a nap today or my posts may get very interesting!

Allergies are horrible this past week, my DD being the worst. Last night she looked like she had been crying. All the flowering trees are in bloom and beautiful. Pollen from regular trees is dropping and leaving a light green dust everywhere and of course it has been windy. Hopefully when the Bloom stops it will settle down.

Sadly I've closed the windows and turned on A/C so all the pollen isn't flying in the house too. I wonder if all the long walks you've taken over the last few days has you more over exposed to the Spring pollen??? Be well. :)

Just to let you know, if you ordered the fight there's going to be a class action suit to get your money back. I hope it goes better than the fight!

You know, there's really nothing better than home grown tomatoes, fresh off the vine. I can't grow anything where I live (landlord put in a concrete backyard . . . ), but I do have friends that will share their bounty when everything ripens at the same time. That's another reason why I remember (years ago) how much I enjoyed eating at the Garden Grill in The Land pavilion at Epcot. They had grown the veggies and harvested fresh that day--YUM!

Tomato plants have come a long long way. Walmart sells container/flower pot tomato plants that actually do extremely well and produce lots of lovely tomatoes.

I'm really struggling with this one. Teachers provide a critical service to the community. What a shame they're asked to take a pay cut. A new presidential library doesn't interest me in the least. I do realize that the funds/budget for the library are probably very different from the funds/budget for the teachers in the city. Still, it's a bit of a turnoff to hear about some big new fancy schmancy presidential library, when the teachers are being asked, at the same time, to take a pay cut. I dunno . . . just doesn't sit well with me.

Presidential libraries are in theory sponsored with private funds however somehow I fail to believe all the attorney's that worked to free up the land were free, there has to be expenses with the courting of the library, don't know this to be fact but more a stab in the dark.

Me, I find it annoying that there is money 'found' for pet projects all the time and yet schools and social services take hits all the time. Annoying.

AAA baseball team just got new owners. They want to move to team to downtown Providence which would probably cost more to go. They want taxpayers to pay $120 million over 30 years for an $85 million stadium. I don't get the math either so don't ask.

I hate it when millionaires and billionaires that owns sport teams that can easily pay for new stadiums ask taxpayers for money. And then they still get their money by threatening to leave or some other city pays them. The only stadium built ever with all private money is Gillette Stadium in Foxboro, MA.

The Cubs received new owners a few years ago and tried the same thing. The answer was no. A suburb though offered them land to rebuild out by them. I am surprised they didn't take them up on it.

My pop was similar, but, not in an annoying way. He worked for Fox Photo in San Antonio (where it was founded) back in the 50's, so he was an avid amateur photog. He still has (although he doesn't use it anymore) his old 35mm camera with the brown leather case and the fan flash unit that used the old bulbs that would be all hot and melty after they went off.
Good memories. :)

Yep, my Dad has not used the camera since I was very small but in the top drawer of his dress is his Brownie camera, very dry rotted case still intact.

I have some thoughts but they might be decisive soooooo, how's the weather?

My professor's theory was that our society is not as homogenous as it was even in the 90's and people have split off into their own subcultures. With everyone divided into their own subcultures the larger culture has remained static. There may be a grain of truth to this theory but I'm still not buying it.

Interesting observation from your professor; I had to think about this for a while, but I tend to agree with him. Keep in mind, however, that I'm not involved in the music, fashion, or interior design professions. But from my own general observations, I think he's probably right. Perhaps the only way to add some balance to his perspective, would be for him to query people who actually work in those three professions, to get their input.

I agree with him that there has been practically no change in those parts of the culture. I just disagree with his theory as to why there has been such little change. I don't have my own theory but his just doesn't add up to me. I'm hoping there will be a cultural shift soon thought. But perhaps I should be careful what I wish for. Things could get worse.

My mom's a retired teacher (35 years--fourth grade) and she was telling me any teachers not retiring this year wouldn't get the max amount of benefits because they are being drastically cut next year and the required years for retirement is being raised. So you know what is happening in our school district? 40% of the teachers schoolwide are retiring and next year will see many new faces brought into the system. At my daughter's elementary school, this is the last year for 12 teachers, the librarian and the principal.

I majored in History and I'm now working on getting certified to teach. I have my own proposal as to how to fix the public school system but I'm not touching that subject on here with a ten foot pole.

I am very careful not to make fun of names, be they current or old fashioned, because of what happened to me.

Very early in my first pregancy, before we had shared the news that I was expecting, we were at a family barbeque on Hubby's side.
Conversation turned to our having kids and what we would/should name them.
I mentioned that I liked the name "Spenser".
My 6' 4" muscle-bound cop BIL piped up - That's a f** name. Why wouldn't you just tattoo "Kick Me" to his back permanently.

I was devastated! :(
You see, I was just 8 weeks along, excited beyond belief, and in the privacy of our home, snuggled in bed, Hubby and I had agreed to name the baby Spenser, if it were a boy.

I guarantee you that there are some people here on this forum that love the name "Albert", and may in fact, have named one of their offspring such. Tribute name or not.
Albert reminds me of these guys.
