Will I be terminated?

That's also the reason why I wouldn't go back even as a professional. Because there's such an army of entry level CMs, you can't get around them.
I experienced that just as a professional NEAR Disney, not even a professional WITH Disney. The hoards of entry level CMs (led by the CPs) makes the entire scene from 192 up to Colonial Drive unbearable. I imagine things would be much better at ABC / Marvel / ESPN / Pixar / Disney Studios where everybody is a professional. Even Disneyland with its much smaller workforce than WDW.

Yes! I find that when I go back to Orlando, unless I'm physically inside of a theme park as a guest, I won't even set foot near the tourist zone.

My non-theme park socializing occurs from Downtown Orlando to Winter Park, and the various fun and delicious neighborhoods nearby and in-between. And Windermere when it's full of food trucks. I've also heard good things about the new brewpub in Winter Garden. If I have more than a day, I'll go to Tampa, or for a quick hop to South Florida.

Again, I have NOTHING, NO ILL FEELINGS, towards the Disney company or their operations. I am blessed to have been apart of this company and going through Traditions and meeting all the secrets and such. But, I am not going to lie, I am a little upset and depressed right now. Again also for safety and consideration, I'm not revealing names, or work locations or what resort this was.

I wasn't going to post this until I got an official resolution from this to which I would meet face to face and they would tell me what the decision was, but I feel like I'm already terminated, so since I assume I am no longer an employee, there is no need for me to be professional about this issue and keep quiet, rather than help out future employees not mess up like I did.

I was asked to come in again not this past Tuesday, but Tuesday last week to sort of clarify what I wrote in my statement the night the incident happened by some of the employee relations people. I thought this was going to be a meeting to announce their decision but it wasn't.

Because I was on suspension and didn't have my ID, I had to wait a Harbor Point, because I was on suspension and didn't have my ID. This was very nerve racking as here I am standing at a security checkpoint looking at the other employees check in, for thirty minutes in the hot sun waiting for the managers to come. So that was kinda unprofessional.

They basically kept contradicting themselves as to what the purpose of the meeting was and supposedly what the other cast members claimed I did wrong. I assumed it was to go over my statement and make sure I didn't write anything wrong or clear up anything I didn't mean to write or whatever, then I was told it was to make sure I didn't know any of the parties involved which I didn't.

Then the whole situation was flipped when they said was I sexually harassing a female coworker when that isn't true. So then it turned into a sexual harassment case. Smh.

REMARKABLY, not really changing the theme of the situation, I purposefully retracted the situation on this thread having a feeling that they would do this, and I changed words i said. For example, I never said "I'm looking for Mickey Mouse" in reality, however they mentioned that in the meeting. So that means they read this forum and said that in the meeting. I am not saying that its a bad thing, but it's not good to assume and that has no merit on my situation.

SO DISNEY DOES IN FACT READ THESE FORUMS. Be careful what you type if you aren't prepared to defend it.

So they asked to me write another statement in written form as to what was said at this meeting and to clear up any misconceptions which I did.

I was then asked by them why I chose to work for Disney, which I told them I want to get into the Entertainment and Animation field as a voice actor or an actor in general and my major is Sociology and Theater arts. They then asked if I didn't want to be in QSFB what position would I Like to be in, and I told them I would prefer to be in Attractions or Hotel Operations. So I kinda felt happy if they were terminating me, they wouldn't be asking what my future endeavors with the company are.

I was then told I would get an answer by Friday which I never did. I just assumed no news was good news.

I also checked my Hub and I was scheduled for this upcoming weekend so that was kinda uplifting.

I don't know how I missed the call, but Monday, I got a voice mail on my phone from Disney asking for me to call them to come in for a meeting.

I called them this past Tuesday morning as it was night time when I got the message. So I called asking to speak to the person who left the message, and I got someone else. It was actually one of my managers and she told me if I could come in Wednesday afternoon (Today) for a meeting. I said that it would be fine. She also explained that I needed to turn in any costumes or company property that I have which I do have. So to me this sounds like I'm being terminated so I asked "Am I being fired". She just responded that it is just company policy so it wasn't a yes or no. So I then hung up.

I was a little anxious after this conversation. I also had a nervous breakdown as I didn't want to accept the fact that I am no longer a cast member.

So today this morning I woke up feeling very depressed and not well. Due to the fact my phone is not working of all times, and the thought running in my head that today was the day I was being fired. I was going to call to reschedule this meeting to another day, as I was not mentally in the mood to go to the park and I could not get into contact with them. I was transferred to all the managers and the operator said all said if they aren't answering their phones, they might not be on duty for that day. I left a voice mail and still have not heard anything.

I also noticed a couple hours ago, my hub login shows a "this account is not active at this time page." So that can't be good.

I explained on both of my statements that I suffer from Autism, so I do have mental issues, but I don't let it affect my work.

I am thinking about offering up any severance pay, if I had any, and also my last three checks which I have notcashed yet in order to get a rehire status as I know I'm probably going to be a restricted rehire. :(

I will keep everyone updated I just want my situation heard and to see what I could have done in the future to prevent this as I feel this was a honest mistake.

Harbor Point? Sounds like Disneyland

If so, you can be fired for any reason during your first 4 months. However, if you were in a Union role (I believe Foods is?) you may want to talk to a shop steward.

Oops. Oh well. I was trying to avoid revealing that but too late now. I think micechat is more of a disneyland board, and this is a disney world board, but this site is more active so I posted my question here.

I appreciate all your help and your advice.

I understand Disneyland is a busy company, but I would like this resolved. After I tried to reschedule what was most likely my termination appointment, they are not returning my calls. I am being told to talk to three different people and I leave voice mails and they are not calling me back.

I thought being that I am under probation, talking to the union is out of the question right? I mean, I would like to fight my termination, but at this point I Just want closure and I'll cross that bridge when I get there.

I already explained my disability to them numerous times in which they disregarded, and I can show proof of that so maybe I might fight it.

Contact the union now. If they are avoiding communications with you, then you're most definitely terminated.

Bring written proof from a medical professional of your disability.

Ok so now that the weekend is over, I was going to try once again to get into contact with my managers as I still have my costumes and shoes and I know i can't just show up and return those and still haven't had an official sit down conversation on my termination.

But instead I got a letter in the mail with two sentences or so saying that I was terminated last Tuesday the 21st, and no reason was given. They were also nice enough to fold in an unemployment packet along with that letter. V_V.

So I guess it's official that I'm terminated now. I am definitely fighting this as I am disabled, and I do want to continue to work for Disney. I just want to know me rehire status and I actually want to know the official reason as to why I was let go and I probably have to meet face to face with them to know that.

I did take your advice and called my steward who was also my trainer so hopefully that gives me an advantage. I left him a voice mail so hopefully he can get into contact with me.

I also continue to contact my managers and HR people so I can get an official reason as to why I was terminated and so I can return their belongings so I don't get into trouble for that.

Will continue to keep you updated.

Alright another update.

I spoke with a member of my union for my department, and even though I appreciated his help, I'm having trouble keeping in contact with him. After I explained my situation to him, he offered to escort me to the premises to return my belongings, and fill out at statement at the union office. We agreed to meet up Wednesday, but I had gotten food poisoning last minute unexpectedly. I understand he is also a trainer for new hires so that could be the reason.

I honsetly don't think I'm even going to mess with the union at this point. If I am not able to find work in a month or so, I probalby will. But due to the fact I was under probation, they might not be able to help me anyways.

Meanwhile, I decided to call one of my managers about that letter I had recieved. He basically told me I am terminated and I am a restricted rehire on top of that.

In the spur of the moment, I asked why was I being terminated. He said due to the fact I ran from him, and I didn't ask him for help. I already esxplained to them why I ran and why I avoid communicating with him.

He then said I remind him of another CM that has autism. He said unlike me, he actually asks for help and blah blah blah. No two cases of autism are the same. So how dare he.

He also suggested that I get mental help. I then told him, how the hell does he not know I don't take medication or recieve mental therapy? I am not going to disclose that on this website, but I took offense to that.

He then said all I have to do is return my belongings to harbor point like other people have suggested. Because if I don't, the company will assume this is "ransom".

So my options at this point are to have steady employment for at least six months at another company, then hope and pray I am rehired again, hope the union can help me,

Or my last step is to contact ktla 5 news los angeles. Or fox 11 news. Notice I didn't say abc 7 lols. I have my nametag, my costume everything to prove I worked there.

I was terminated for no reason, and I have lots of twitter followers and lots of youtube subscribers. I love Disney but I don't love the way I am being treated.

Give me a break. You finally get someone to meet with you, and you bail? Good luck in your future endeavors. You're going to need it.

All that opression, use it for good. I can tell you're an artist and smart. Fight for whats right. :)

What's right?

Did you tell anyone in HR at the time of being hired that you had autism?

When I was first hired at my employer, I stated that I need a standing desk due to documented back issues.

It was not an issue, and I got the desk.

If I hadn't told them, I'm certain that they would have complied - but it might have been an issue.

I would recommend that you stop posting about this. If you need advice you may want to consider reaching out to others in PM if you must. It seems from your own statements that Disney is aware that you are posting here. Nothing you say here will be beneficial at this point.

Advice on what? I'm new member here. I figured some of you guys could understand my situation. I'm going to call HR on Monday, and depending on what they say, I may or may not contact the media.

I appreciate your guys help but understand my situation. I mean I like R. Kelly too, but he isn't helping my situation.

Oh this thread is now getting boring.................

First post - I felt sorry for you and offered my help and opinions.

The saga is dragging out far longer than is needed. You're failing to make meetings with union staff to discuss you're future, and now threatening to go to the TV. For goodness sake, you're nothing more than a number on Disney's payroll system and you messed up big time.
Why would TV or any other media company be interested in your story ?

Because he's gay, black, autistic, and eats rotten food...so obviously none of this is his fault.

Duh...

Trust me, I was sick as a dog. I'm talking horror movie type sick. If I was able and well enough to leave my house and meet up with my union leader, I would have. I called him in the afternoon apologizing for not showing up, and he had yet to call me back. He told me not to deal with anyone else but him personally so again I understand he's real busy as he is also a manager as well as a union leader, but if my calls are not being returned, what can you do?

I was also under the pretense that since I am under probation, even with my disability, the union probably cannot give me any assistance.

and now threatening to go to the TV.

I wouldn't consider it a threat, just more of an option I'm considering. I am not going to shame the company, just would like for my story to be heard as I am disabled and I would at least like an unrestricted rehire or a backstage role in the least, if not my job back.

For goodness sake, you're nothing more than a number on Disney's payroll system and you messed up big time.

Messed up? I refused to talk an attractions cast member whom I was trying to ask directions for, after hours, backstage, when I was allowed to be backstage so that's a crime? On top of me being autisitic and scared of his attitude?

Why would TV or any other media company be interested in your story ?

Descrimation=media. If you can a conspired situation which I do, journalists might take a chance with you. Especially since many news journalists follow me on twitter.

Because he's gay, black, autistic, and eats rotten food...so obviously none of this is his fault.

Homophobic and racist. Also making fun of my mental disability. Smh.

No. Merely stating the facts as you presented them. Your sexual orientation and race have no place in your situation, unless you choose to make them an issue. You brought them up as if they did, and as if you think they are matters of importance. They are not. But, I'll remind you...

I mean I didn't like the way I was treated like a terrorist, but I'll let that slide, I hope I am given another chance. I could care less about what employees think of me being black and gay, I just really want to work for disney as being terminated from disney is something I couldn't stand for.

So, please, do not force implications on my comment that are not there based on your own skewed reality where you think the entire world is against you or is suffering from some sort of "ist" or "phobia".

Likewise, your disability, well...

I did not appreciate that and felt scared and anxious as I suffer from Autism, so I ran from him to prove a point.

You never answered the repeated questions from others trying to actively help you out. Namely, did you disclose this in advance to HR during the hiring process and ask for reasonable accommodation? If you didn't, ADA isn't really going to help you much.

But, now you are looking to go to the "media" with it? After missing meeting after meeting and frankly being rather shady about the entire thing? Yeah...good luck.

I was making fun of your food poisoning though with the "eats rotten food" comment...but, you missed that joke completely (when the rest were merely statements of fact as you outlined them).
