Disney confirms 'Frozen' makeover coming to Epcot's Norway Pavilion

Show me.

Instead of constantly dismissing what I am saying, talking down to myself and others personally vs. having a discussion about the situation itself and not your grand view of what WS should be, and continuously serving up rhetoric - show me where Disney has stated that characters are not supposed to be in World Showcase, or that they would never put an animated-based ride in the park.

It's ironic that you said earlier that attractions don't exist in a vacuum, yet, you want it to be vacuum sealed according to these supposed rules that didn't even exist to begin with.
Funny how you mention about "people dismissing" what you're saying.
Because that is the exact thing the pro-frozen group has done since the rumor started.

That's like saying it's all on a network to provide TV programs, totally discounting the importance of paid advertisers.
Networks usually do not charge the viewers (TV over the Air), hence why they rely on advertisers.
Paid Networks by the viewers in the other hand.. hardly have advertisers.

So a people mover didn't get built... la dee da... People were asking what WS was supposed to be about.. I provided what THE WALT DISNEY COMPANY IN AN ANNUAL REPORT TO INVESTORS precisely what World Showcase was to be about. Oh and as far as every pavilion having an attraction, well, every pavilion IS AN ATTRACTION in and of itself. Attractions don't have to be rides ya know. Or maybe you don't.

Oh and wasn't every pavilion designed and partially built to house a ride? Let's see... Mexico has a ride, China has the movie, Norway has a ride, Germany was supposed to have the river ride (show building built and all), Japan was to have some sort of theater attraction, American Adventure has a show, Canada has a movie, France has the movie. Morocco, Italy and United Kingdom are the only pavilions I cannot recall any rides or shows having been planned for it. But I want to say Italy too was going to have a river ride, I could be mistaken.

When World Showcase opened up in 1982, and compared to today, I think they hit their mission statement quite accurately. Not one attraction/pavilion infested with characters. Instead, each attraction (pavilion) gave visitors a sample (never was meant to be a full fledged experience of that country, as per their you know MISSION STATEMENT), of the history, culture of said country. Every pavilion/attraction hit upon what they set out to do. And to this day, each pavilion STILL does. Except, well, Norway. They are taking a fictional kingdom in an animated movie and plopping it where it doesn't belong. Gran Fiesta Tour still does, at least, show case Mexican culture while the pavilion details the culture and history. China, Germany, Italy, France, United Kingdom, Japan, Canada, American Adventure. They all do. Tell me, where is the Norwegian history and culture left in the Norway pavilion?

BTW, part of a country's culture is... ready for it??? The products they sell and, GASP the food/drinks!!! That isn't too hard to understand is it?

Wasn't trying to say characters don't belong in World Showcase. I personally don't feel they do, but that wasn't my point. Others made that argument. Not me. While I am personally against characters in World Showcase, I can accept them if the pavilions/attractions and rides are done to what World Showcase was always meant to be about. And that Annual Report details EXACTLY what World Showcase was meant to be about. Again, look at what it was meant to be about, not what they originally had planned to include. And you'll see they did exactly what they set out to do (minus a people mover). If you get your head out of your long enough that is.

You are one of the smarter members here, I think. You know the difference between INSPIRED BY and TAKES PLACE IN right? I know comprehension is very hard for a lot of the Disney online community. And I know it is very hard for the dust sniffers to comprhend that Disney isn't perfect and they make mistakes. But again, reading her quote, she called it exactly what is is FANTASTCIAL.. I.E. FANTASY... I.E. DOESN'T EXIST. And therefore, since the World Showcase, according to Disney, was meant to take guests into the country and give them a brief taste of the REAL culture, history, then FROZEN absoluetly does NOT fit, since, you know.. Arendelle isn't real and the movie DOES NOT TAKE PLACE IN NORWAY. It is fantasy, and has no business being in Norway.

Trolls are part of Norwegian folklore. Thus, it is part of the Norwegian culture. Fits their mission statement perfectly. As did the scene with the vikings, polar bear, and oil rig.

So keep trying. You keep digging your hole deeper and deeper. Let's see what nonsense you come up with now. Too bad I blew a hole into your already sad and flawed argument.
I still dont understand that dumb excuse of "lol they didnt build a people's mover.. therefore EPCOT is not what was supposed to be, thus frozen fits!" they used.
It just simply doesn't make the simplest sense.

Actually, from a technical standpoint, Michael Bay is an excellent director in many regards.
not to mention he is a pioneer in explosions. He really pulls the CGI/tech of machinery and explosions.

but story wise.. he is terrible.

What point are those pictures supposed to prove? WS has some of the best themed shops in all of WDW. And... Who said it wasn't supposed to have shopping?
Agree, these stores are way better than the generic ones you see at WDW everywhere with the same merchandise everywhere!

Again, not simple. To go back to the the ad revenue comparison, before he was pulled, Glen Beck had the most popular program on FOX News, yet he was pulled because he was hemorrhaging sponsors and advertisers. Now, FOX and Newscorp have ridiculous amounts of money, not to mention that FOX News, being on cable, already gets payed by cable companies to provide content. And yet, Glen Beck is still off the air.
That hardly as to do with sponsors but the insane controversies he started to arise.
He pretty much annoyed some guy up there and got booted,so I dont think it was merely $$$.

One Little Spark...
This irritates me (from that article)

"Kids can learn everything they want to learn about transportation in a half-hour on the Internet," Baker said. "You've got to give them a Test Track ride.

That's NOT THE POINT.

Look, when I rode World of Motion, and I saw the Jules Verne scenes, I wouldn't have thought "Oh, that's Jules Verne", but it did make it even cooler when I finally read Jules Verne.

And, with Maelstrom, I had NO interest as a kid in learning about Norway, and yet, the ride did an excellent job of balancing a cultural experience with a thrill ride.

Yes, it's MORE challenging to do this. It's easier just to slap a popular IP on it and brand it a success (cause...youknow, EVERYONE likes Frozen, just look at the box office and toy sales!), but it's far more difficult to CREATE a lasting IP of it's own (ahem...Haunted Mansion, Pirates...which they've gutted, etc.)

I LEARNED from EPCOT rides, but it wasn't boring or like a classroom. Learning isn't boring unless YOU are boring.

I hate this encroachment. It can be done well (with the meet and greets in World Showcase, for the most part, it has, and the integration of Kim Possible and later Perry, also VERY well done)...

It can be done poorly and on the cheap (Nemo).

Or it can just be a cop out (Mexico and Norway).

Well, the money was a very big part of it.

To use a less controversial example, Young Justice and Green Lantern were quite popular on Cartoon Network. However, both shows were cancelled, possibly due to unhappy advertisers. (You see, girls watched Young Justice and Green Lantern, but the ads were all centered on boy products).

I often wondered how Mexican Donald Duck actually was...You could have put the 3 Amigo's on that tour and it would have been just as authentic. Does Disney even have a Mexican princess? better get on that...Selena Gomez is starting to turn to the dark side.

Sofia the first!!!

Ha, too be honest, I always kinda thought Disney missed an opportunity not having Rapunzel be set in Spain/Mexico/ South America or somewhere around here. The guitar playing reminded me of this. So did the sun designs. And her in Brown hair could pull her off as Mexican (and she could have this look in Mexico and still have her blonde look in MK, lol). Maybe the lanterns does it too. I think it would have been cool if her movie was set a little more like that. I love it regardless the way it is now. But that was something that came to mind when I first saw the movie.

If Pixar doesn't scrap it in the wake of that other movie that's coming out in a few weeks, like what they did with Newt once Rio came out.
There's definitely room for more then one Dia de los Muertos film. It's a holiday, not a stock plot. And Pixar's plans supposedly involve telling more of a story about a family versus Book of Life's whole reverse Orpheus plot.

139 pages of arguements and still going strong. The problem is that people do not want to accept that this is happening and unless you are a big shareholder (maybe not even then), nothing is going to stop it short of the hand of whatever diety you worship.

Toad, Horizons, 20k, WoM, Adventurers Club, the gobbledegook half hearted rehabs, Mainstreet rehab, no new monorail or even light rail lines linking all destinations within WDW. All are nothing we can control. Sure we can lament them for hours, days, months and years but in the end they are gone, TDO's bad record will continue, and life will still go on.

Might I ask how people continuing to discuss it even though it most likely won't change affects you? If you don't like it feel free to ignore the thread. You don't see me going into threads I don't care about telling people "why are you still discussing this"?
I still can't believe we got Under New Management evicted by act of tiki god.
Maybe the same can happen here with an act of Odin.
