Trip Report Everything Is Just So Peachy Keen! *COMPLETED*

It certainly was for us Georgia peaches this last week! For those who may be new here, let us introduce ourselves. We are Tuvalu and Em, a mother-daughter duo who love traveling together to Walt Disney World. We take multiple trips per year (this was our third for 2022) and for us, time spent at our resort is just as important to us as time spent in the parks. Slow-paced relaxation is vital to us!

I’m sure this laid-back vibe is what draws people to cruises: pools, bars, a variety of restaurants and activities from which to choose . I can’t do ships. But I can happily “land cruise” at WDW!

Hope you decide to follow along and learn about the surprises on our most recent voyage.

When: July 20-27, 2022
Where: Disney’s Yacht Club and Disney’s Wilderness Lodge Resorts

Wednesday, July 20

I'm going to begin by jumping ahead to our drive home. One of our traditions is asking one another, What was your favorite day of the vacation? Sometimes it will be the same day....for similar reasons....or different days based on individual preferences. We also discuss least favorite day, favorite meal, least favorite meal....well, you get the gist.

For the first time ever, neither Em nor I could name a single favorite day.

They were all that good!!

We didn't even bring up a least favorite day. There was no need, because there wasn't one. That's why the title of this trip report came so easy for me. Everything was so peachy keen!

The same cannot be said for one left behind. Poly made it quite clear that I was not to go anywhere.

She spent the week pouting upstairs. My hubby Woody said he rarely saw her, except when she came down to eat. Our other feline Kona is pretty much Woody's cat, and wasn't nearly as bothered by my absence.

Despite Poly's objection, Em and I hit the road very early to avoid Atlanta's infamous traffic. Em had primed herself with her travel mug of coffee so we didn't have to stop until we reached our usual breakfast destination.

We were glad it wasn't a Sunday so we could chow down on chicken biscuits.

The remainder of our journey was surprisingly smooth. No traffic slowdowns, no major construction, no rain. With only one additional rest stop (not at the Florida Welcome Center or there would have been palm tree pics for @Darstarr) we were pulling in to Resort #1 over the noon hour.

We decided to do a split stay due to a scheduling conflict that required us to shift our dates. It had been four years since we’d last stayed at an Epcot resort, and Em & I were looking forward to some time in what we call the "relaxation grotto" at Stormalong Bay.

Typically we'd choose Beach Club for it's vibe and proximity to Epcot. But as they say, there was no room in the Inn. (Wait, that's Boardwalk. A fine resort, but no access to Stormalong Bay.) Yacht Club it was!

Our first stay at YC was in 2011. We had such a great experience that I immediately booked the bounce back offer for 2012.

Today was our first time back in ten years. Enough said. ;)

The Covid-19 warning signs are no longer prominently featured on entrance doors. In fact it would be very easy to overlook this one.

I don't mind. After two years it is nice to feel a sense of normalcy again.

The Captain was not outside to greet us. Couldn't blame him. It was a rather toasty day.

I had done online check in so we did not stop at the Front Desk. However our room was not ready so we used the facilities, admired the lobby and went to find ourselves some lunch!

The lighthouse was under scaffolding for refurbishment. Em joked that it would probably be our view.

Em suggested going into Epcot to get something to eat. While I had no qualms with her pick, I suspected it had something to do with something I had forgotten to do this morning.

(If you’re drinking, that’s 3 shots for the word something. :hilarious:)

The walkability to Epcot was a definite plus!

We were through the tapstiles a little past 1 pm. Before I could even open the MDE app, Em had scored us a Boarding Group for Guardians of the Galaxy Cosmic Rewind, hereafter known simply as "Guardians". What is it with Disney and long attraction names? First Rise (see what I did there?) and now this.

Anyhoo, the something I had forgotten to do at 7 am was try for a Guardians BG. (Em was driving at the time. But in my defense, she did not remind me to do so!)

All was well with a BG now secured. Time to head for a favorite World Showcase quick service.

@Captain Barbossa knows where I'm talking about.

The pastry aromas in Les Halles are divine. But we were here for savory options.

How did that cookie sneak onto our tray? Okay ~ we caved!

Em went with the Dinde BLT. She doesn't remember having it toasted before, but she really liked it. My Jambon Beurre was heavy on the cheese. Extra cheese is usually not a problem for me, but I learned that in the case of the Jambon Beurre, there really can be a problem with having too much cheese! :joyfull:

I liked the food there, too. Glad to see it hasn't changed much since the last time I visited WDW (4 years ago, actually).

Happy to see that you and Em got a table inside. (That was my only issue there -- they never had enough indoor tables.)

We were just finished with our lunch when I received the Your room is ready text.

Em recommended returning to YC and unloading the car in case of rain later. Em is a wise woman. We've been burned (or more accurately, soaked) before.

I think it's so cool that you get to walk under the pool slide outside of Stormalong Bay.

I also think the rear... backside... Crescent Lake-facing side of Yacht Club is more impressive than the entrance.

We retrieved our rolling luggage and headed for the elevators.

Oh no, @MinnieM123! And there were no elevator cookies to appease us!

We arrived at our 3rd floor room and the door would not unlock. Not with our MagicBands and not with our phones.

So far Yacht Club was not earning our praise.

But you already know that everything was so peachy keen. As if by magic, a bellman appeared out of nowhere.

"Are you locked out?" he inquired. We nodded.

"The locks have been giving newcomers fits lately," he said. "I can let you in."

And with that he used his master key to open our door. He told us the Front Desk could fix the issue with our bands. We entered the room and discovered it had only ONE bed, not the two queens we expected.

It was a King bed, so we could make do. And we were quite happy with the room location.

We weren't happy that daily housekeeping STILL had not returned, especially at a Deluxe resort. But again, we could make do.

Room photos for my friend @Nunu!

Leather chair and ottoman, next to the nightstand which was next to the bed. Very comfy. (Not just the chair, the bed was very comfy too.)

The curtains had constellations with hidden Mickeys. Forgot to take a picture.

On the opposite side of the room were a work desk (YC is a convention hotel) and dresser, with a wall mounted TV.

Bathroom sink area. The wall plugs had LED lights to softly illuminate the darkness ~ helpful for middle-of-the-night bathroom needs.

The stall shower had a duo showerhead. Em said it was the best hotel shower she's ever experienced. And the soap/hair products were in individual containers.
