Orlando is seriously lacking in public transportation in general
There is. Lynx has a MCO stop. You can take Lynx to DS, TTC, SW and numerous hotels. luggage isn't easy but is allowed.

Golynx.com

Mears Connect is shuttle service to and FROM MCO.

Edited to add Many Americans travel with more luggage that can be easily handled.

Brightline offer train service south

Guests currently take ride share, car service, rental car or Mears Connect from MCO to their resort. No transfer required.

Your video talks about rail. Long walk through MCO to get to train station. Wait for train. Train to DS. Ride share to your resort.

Bus is the most efficient form of transportation from MCO to resort. DME was free. Free resulted in volume. Volume made it work

Also, We will take Mears again in August. For the two of us, round trip is $32 each. You can hardly find any sit down meals for two at Disney for $64. Won't hear us complaining. It's not the former DME but pretty close to it!

You can't rent a car for that, so it sounds like a good deal.

Prior to 2022 the answer was Magical Express, very few people would have paid for a train when they could take the DME for free.

Now I think the biggest reasons are simply price and convenience, an Uber from MCO to WDW is typically under $50 total for a small family, no waiting for a scheduled departure time, no transfers, no lifting your luggage on and off a train… it’s fairly inexpensive, fairly simple, and fairly fast.

We’ve used both the RER and the TGV to get from CDG airport to DLParis, the RER is inexpensive but takes a lot of time and at least one transfer, the TGV is fast and simple but fairly expensive. We love the trains in Europe, and would love to have the option here also, but I’m not sure most people would pick a train over using a simpler and likely cheaper rideshare option though, we’re a car culture and without a noticeable price or time savings I just don’t think most people would use it.
