Trip Report World’s best uncle - a different kind of Loco trip.

Season 1 Nbc GIF by The Office

This trip was quite the change of pace for us!

Here’s our main cast. Loco, A, and our niece C.

C is 10 years old. For a little back ground, when C was a baby up until she was almost eight she lived across the street from us. Needless to say we were quite close getting to see her every day. Unfortunately after her parents split up, they sold the house and she lives about 30 minutes from us now. Not far, but we don’t get to see her nearly as often as we once did. We were all three excited to get to spend so much time together again on this trip. I was interested to see how she would handle Disney. She’s at that time where she’s kind of in between being a kid and a big kid. Anyways many of you read the pre trip and updates, so let’s get down to business!

Day 1
Our last several trips we’ve taken a road trip and driven the entire way through the night. While this can be exhausting, it makes for a much faster and easier drive than trying to do it during the day. We would use this same tactic for this trip, hoping that C would be able to sleep for much of the trip. I stayed up super late and was able to sleep until nearly noon on the day of our departure in preparation for my long drive.

We picked up C around 5:30 that evening and were on our way!

We made a stop about an hour in for some Chick-fil-A and potty break at target(the CFA was so full it was easier to go into the target next door).

Soon we settled in on our journey across the gulf states. Fortunately C and A both fell asleep around 10 PM and I was able to push through most of Mississippi without stopping. We reached our halfway point at around 2 AM! It was a much needed break to stretch my legs for a bit.

The drive across the Florida panhandle is easily the worst/most boring part of the trip for me. Thankfully A was awake from her nap and kept me company during that long stretch of desolate highway. Shortly after sunup we made it to our next longer break in Live Oak, FL at the Busy Bee, a store similar to a buc-cees without as much fanfare(and higher prices). C had done a great job of sleeping through most of the night, only waking up for the occasional bathroom break.

After our morning stop we were almost there. C’s excitement only grew as we approached the welcome sign!

A wanted to take a look at the character warehouse store, so we headed over to the outlets first. I’d never visited the outlet mall, and having visited them once, I think I’m good for another 20 years or so!

C found some ears she liked for only $7 though, so that was at least something.

Some food court pizza for C’s lunch. I had a chicken sandwich from somewhere that I don’t remember.

We stopped by OKW on our way to the boardwalk to pick up our magic bands. We’d added a night at boardwalk last minute, so the bands were already at OKW. We were able to pick them up without any issues.

We finally decided to head to boardwalk and maybe grab some pool time.

Our room ready text arrived right as we drove by this sign!

Afterwards C wanted to go to Dino Land to ride “dinosaur dumbo”. We saw a photopass photographer with nobody around, so we snapped a quick pic on our way.

There was a character flotilla thing happening along the way. I kinda like these!

I like anything that involves Russell and Dug!

Triceratops Spin was the last remaining attraction at DAK that I had never done.

C loved all of the spinner rides!

Next up was dinosaur. I was a little worried about C on this one, since she didn’t seem to like the darkness in mission space the day before. I tried to keep my description of the ride as vague as possible so that I didn’t unnerve her before we even got on.
A3B1C592-A595-4A36-B5B3-9771984875E2.jpeg

No need to worry. This ended up being her favorite ride of the day! Not so much for the kid in the front row.

She enjoyed her time in dinoland.

Next up was ITTBAB. This one got to her a little, but she did think the termites at the end were funny.

We had a little time to kill before lunch. We decided to head back to dinoland to meet chip and Dale in their dinosaur costumes. They hadn’t quite started meeting when we got there, so C and A met daisy while I waited.

Chip and Dale came out as soon as C and A joined me back in line. We were the third party of the day to meet with the crazy chipmunks.

Their interaction was great and they took a lot of time to joke around with C and even got A and myself involved!

Sorry for the delay in updates. Our little piece of Texas got absolutely rocked by severe weather late last week and took on a ton of damage and fallen trees, which led to massive power outages during a heat wave. We are fine but it’s been all hands on deck trying to help out our fellow friends and neighbors. Anyways back to the TR!

Day three.
We had time for one more M&G before lunch.

A tried to get a picture with Kevin since she had her Up shirt on, but Kevin wasn’t having it. 😂

Lunch was at Tusker House. It had been some years since we’d dined here. I always seem to forget how much I enjoy the food selections here! Donald was at our table when I returned from the buffet.

C dropped her pen she’d been using to get autographs and couldn’t find it. Goofy was kind enough to spend several minutes running through the restaurant looking for a pen to sign C’s autograph book. It was a sweet moment!

This is our friend from our February trip, Fern. She’s currently the oldest animal at the petting zoo. It was good to see she’s still hanging around judging people!

Sadly, our other old friend through the years, Tiana the llama, passed away a few months earlier. RIP Tiana, you are missed!

I saw some news video of the aftermath, of various storms in Texas. (Some areas were hit with quite a bit of damage.). Sorry to hear about the storms, but glad that you are o.k. It was nice that you helped out friends and neighbors, who needed assistance.

You certainly had some great character fun at Tusker House! We always enjoy the Harambe train ride and petting zoo when visiting AK! I'm sorry to hear that you all had such bad storms with damage in your part of TX but glad that you are alright. You're a good neighbor helping other out that did.

C is really into drawing things, so this was right up her alley.

There was a photopass photographer roaming around Al Harambe when we returned. She was very fun. Apparently C was not impressed! 😂

I always loved the animation drawing classes!! It's been years since my last one. I noticed that they now give you a board to draw on. (Years ago, the setup was tables with stools.) But I can see how they can fit in more guests, if they use regular seating, with individual boards for each person.
