Yeah, but if WoL opens this winter when the Land goes down...

Grizz, I guess I missed it. Do you know when the Land is supposed to go down?

Also, count me in as another person who thinks Cranium Command is hysterical. A lovely gem of a show.

Well, I'm not Grizz, but the Land is scheduled to go down for an extended period right after the Holiday Season ends. That is when the changes would be made to add in Soarin'. So, around Early Jan is when the Land would close.

They may have removed the sign due to the hurricanes. I was at WDW during Charley and I noticed some changes. The Finding Nemo Living Seas statue/sculpture was missing some figures the day after the hurricane.

Cranium Command is a classic Disney attraction. It saddens me to see the entire pavillion stagnate. :(

Yep. . . EXTREME changes. Anyone else hear of the most terrible plan I've heard since JIYI or Chester and Hester's: "The Land Travel Agency?" :brick:

Glad you all enjoy the video. And yes, Cranium Command is one of the true Disney successes in "infotainment". . . *sigh*

Wow, where are these plants??

Think of the plants, but also think of the guests. ;)

There all over really. Around/in front of the ramps at the entrance, planters around the middle section (Making of Me/Anacomical theatre), planters with small palms near Pure & Simple.

thats was a great video grizz. Listening to the music was so relaxing. It made me miss the good ol' days of working at WoL. I half expected to see myself on your video since I worked there most of the time it was open in april.

Well now I am running out of reasons to even go to EPCOT! I am going next week for a week and with all the closures I guess we will be spending a lot of time at the pools.

I can't believe that there are so many rides and attractions that are down. If they keep closing the stuff for the younger crowd they might as well sell the parks to Six flags! This really stinks for EPCOT!

great video! If they should change anything in WoL, it should be Body Wars because every person I know gets sick on that ride.

But then again, if CC goes so does BW.

Oh well, another pavilion gone...

Can you say. . . Convention space? That's just a thought.
How much convention space do they need at this park? How many conventions actually hold meetings inside the parks? There's the Millenium Celebration building, Odyssey, and countless other backstage lounges. With all that space, they really have to be doing a pretty good business with conventions, no? Or is that a wrong assumption?

Someone mentioned adding Stormrider and retheming the pavillion to weather. Wasn't that a rumored pavillion to be put between The Land and Living Seas? Seems like they'd want to redirect some traffic towards that end of the park. When I was there in July, this side of the park has much less traffic flow than the Space/Test Track side. As good as Disney is at moving people thru it's parks, I really don't understand why we get combinations like RnR/ToT, Splash & Big Thunder and M:S/Test Track.

EXCELLENT video, General Grizz! Just outstanding! With the pavilion having been closed throughout the entire summer season, I'll go out on a limb and say it is DONE. I've put Cranium Command on my list of favorite extinct attractions over on Main Street USA's thread.

I don't get how lack of sponsor money dooms these pavilions. WDW still gets almost sixty dollars per person for every ticket sold and EPCOT is the second most attended theme park in the world, so . . . I just don't get it.

Most of the footage was taken in 2002 and 2003. Most of the photographs of areas being stripped away were filmed this past spring.

I realize that now since I rewatched the video. When I saw it the first time I thought I recgonized the CM at CC and MOM as CM i had just tried for the april reopen. But watching it again i relized they where someone else.

However watching it again brought back more found memories of standing at BW Greeter and just staring at the mobile. It was always one of my wishes to get to see the mobile hit the top of the MOM theater. But that wish never came true and probably never will. :(

question

I have only rode space mountain at disney world once when I was 8 in 1998. Back then that was my favorite coaster. When I rode it, I remember the ride like this: The train took a slight turn to the right, then it stopped for like 5 seconds, the we dropped down and turned and went through this tunnel with strobelights and effects and then started going up and down and turning. Now when I read how people describe the ride, they say it starts off by going up a lift hill. I don't remember a lift hill. Can someone please tell me how the ride really goes.

Does anybody know a site where I can see a good video of space mountain.

Look, Tmacafits, I know you're new and all, but you need to pay a little better attention where you post things. This is an on-going thread about the Wonders of Life Pavillion at Epcot. If you want to talk about Space Mountain, you should either find an existing topic ABOUT Space Mountain and add a reply, or, just start a NEW THREAD about Space Mountain. Afterall, you wouldn't interrupt people on the street who were talking about the weather to ask about a video game, now would you? Remember that online discussions are just another form of discussion and, as such, you can't just butt in on conversations anymore then you would in real life.

That said, welcome to WDWMagic forums.

So let me get this straight...

CONVENTIONS are being held at Wonders of Life
THE POWER is on, and lights are RUNNING for PLANTS
and GUESTS hit the park to max capacity, and it DOESN'T OPEN FOR THEM

What is WRONG with this picture?!?

There are many things that money is used for.
1. Employees- Walt Disney World is the single highest employer in the World. All these empoyees need their money. Where do you think it comes from?
2. Upkeep- Disney does not have the money alone to fix something everytime it breaks down. The animatronics, ride vehicles, and the park itself needs maintenance.
3. For most people, that ticket is some form of park hopper. That means that the money they pay for it is being distributed between all 4 parks. Money for fireworks, electric, new rides, animals in AK, paint & maintanence, Entertainment, security, etc.
Loss of a sponsor can be devestating for most rides. Some things can get away without a sponsor though. SSE is the symbol of the park and is the most visited ride in the world. And trust me, if Illuminations: ROE was not as popular as it is, it would have been gone the moment GE dropped sponsorship. Part of how Disney kept GM was by upgrading WoM to Test Track (which is so popular that lines can get up to 2 hours). The Imagination attractions are safe since Disney and Kodak are good partners (so far) (though, am I am sure I'm not the only one who would like to see the upstairs part of ImageWorks reopened).

How much does Kodak donate to Epcot? It's a low quality ride, which I imagine costs thousands less to operate than the multi-sensory original, plus the same 1994 show, same fountains, and a lack of upstairs Image Works. This would seem like an attraction Disney could easily run itself (in contrast to the Land, for example).
