Even if they have no intentions, I still don't understand what makes a person make a conscious decision to get up in the morning, say I'm going to Disney World, ok next I'm going to take this gun with me, get in the car and go walk into the Park. *shrugs*

I know a few people who have permits to carry. You would be shocked how often you are in a store, building, local park, etc... and there are folks that just carry their gun all the time. They are actually surprised to learn that Disney (and the other Orlando attractions) outlaw it. Now - smart enough to pass that class, know the rules about when/where you can carry...

How long till we are forced to go full TSA like UNI?

Woahoo great find Dan! The thread about the Epcot guy has been closed, but now we have a new outlet to resume the discussion! ;)

Putting the kibosh on a discussion about firearms and safety... that's not something I agree with, and I think it'll look bad in retrospect. But I will obviously comply with the moderators' request, and yes, there are other places to talk about this.

That's why I have, in the past, voiced my concern directly to police departments and such, and I suggest that you all do that as well. It probably won't directly bring about any change, but you may spark a thought or add to the push for improvement. At the very least, you tried, and you attempted to make your voice heard.

About the woman trying to bring a gun in... I am obviously glad that they were stopped, and I give a thumbs up to the security officers.

Technically if you have a conceal carry permit, you should be able to carry anywhere in FL. Except pretty much anywhere on property has a liquor license as well as the "explosives" thing, so I think thats what does it - not that Disney says you cant per se. Im sure @71jason can correct me if Im wrong.

I guess I was right on the other thread after all by reporting it after seeing it.

I have a problem here besides guns shouldn't be in theme parks a first place. No one should be bringing any type of a gun into AK first place despite the fact the odds are very low on it going off. The fact is AK is part theme park and part zoo.

The fact is Animals at AK would be frighten if they hear a real gun shot especially with animals that walk on the same roads as the Kilimanjaro Safari vehicles do such as giraffes and ostriches.

It's probably a case of people who always carry a gun so don't even think about not taking it when they go.

That's not true. Disney is private property and can impose whatever rules they want. People have been trying to fight it for a long time and the closest they could get was allow people to have guns in their cars but not in the parks.

It's also important to note that neither the Epcot guy or this Animal Kingdom woman had a valid permit. In fact, the Epcot guy never had a permit and the woman did have a permit but it expired in January.

This is it for the majority of people who carry. While I don't personally carry I have friends and relatives that do. For them having a handgun strapped to them is the same as having your wallet and car keys. It's just something they always have on them.

UNI has TSA style security?

Which is probably the only reason these people made the news, because they were arrested. I wonder how many people are caught trying to bring guns into the park who are carrying it legally?
