That last part about the rails may not necessarily be true. It all depends on what that walkway is designated as for parades/fireworks. If standing is not allowed at the rails during shows, then I'd think the CMs would be there ushering people along like they do along Main Street and the hub. If standing along the rails is allowed, I wouldn't expect to sit on a bench at the "back" of the pathway and expect an unobstructed view. Even if it is only a walking path with no standing allowed, I'd expect a constant stream of people passing in front of me.

Please note, I'm not passing judgment on the alleged incident that started this thread. I'm just giving my opinion on standing in areas where there may be benches.
Why not sit by the rails. Seems that would have been the proper thing to do. But like you I don't know all the details.

She was so "scared" for her life that she whipped out her phone and narrated the whole thing? Yeah, I'd have a ruined day too if all I did was talk about it on my phone hoping for coddling.

Seriously, WDW is quite busy sometimes, crowds are tough and people can get in the way. You spent a lot of money to be there, ignore them and move around. You'll win that way.

Don't think anyone covers themself in glory there really. The jerky guy getting in Abner's way and Abner's language in front of kids are equally wrong.

By the way is 'Abner' a common name or did the mum decide to just jumble some letters together to try to form a unique one? Apologies to any Abners, but living in the UK I can honestly say I've never heard that name before.

I'm not going to say it was easy to see Wishes in front of the castle, but it was a heck of a lot better than it is now trying to see Happily Ever After. At least with Wishes, you could see (and hear) the entire show from many locations in the Magic Kingdom. If you want to see the entire Happily Ever After show (including the projections), you have to be in a cone shaped area directly in front of the castle. So many more people than ever before are trying to cram into this space to see the show, because who doesn't want to see the projections?

The first time I saw HEA in front of the castle, it started out fine. I wasn't that close to the front but I found a spot about 45 minutes beforehand, was by myself, and had some personal space that got smaller and smaller as the show got closer. There was a family with a stroller near me and we had a pretty good conversation up until about 10 minutes before the show. At about that point, people were basically unable to move from where they were standing. Walkways were non-existent, more and more people kept trying to push their way towards the front, eventually it got to the point where people were physically pushing and stepping on others. I had someone say he was trying to get up to his family and then ended up in between the stroller next to me and the mother who had been pushing it. She told him to move and he said he was fine right there. I, and a few others, told him that if he wasn't really looking for his family he needed to leave, he flipped us off and said a few choice words about how he paid to be here too and pushed his way through more people to go someplace else.

Then when the show started, it got even more congested. I had my entire right side pushed up against this family's stroller, my left side was full body contact with some guy who showed up about 2 minutes prior, and I had a father directly behind me with a kid on his shoulders (and that led to upset people behind him). When the show ended, I'm surprised people weren't trampled by everyone trying to get away from the hub.

The show itself, is good. But it's not good enough to put up with the crowds that mass in the hub. People are just too focused on making sure they, and their family, are set to see this show from in front of the castle that they don't care about how their actions are affecting others.

I also have a feeling that one of the reasons we don't have a nighttime parade at the moment is because of the fireworks and hub situation. I don't think they are able to do the crowd control needed to clear parade paths like when they were doing MSEP at 9, Wishes at 10, and MSEP at 11.

If Abner would've gotten in a fight, this could've been accurate:
