LOL!!

Not as bad as Anaheim though...

Admitedly, when I first saw a video of the TDL Pooh ride system I was gobsmacked. Now if they could clone THAT and use it for a different attraction in Florida...

`Dear Michael, we have a great idea for an attraction. Most of the R&D has been done already so it should only cost half the Tokyo version. Oh. Okay, we`ll build another Primeveal Whirl instead, Sir.`

I would love to see this system used for a "Rescuers" ride. The system alrady works in water (TDS has a ride in water using the system.

The ride vehicles could be leaves with Evinrude on the back providing power......somewhat like this

The attraction could buzz around the swamp....get chased by the gators, and rescue Penny.

That would be cool, but I'm not sure how many families will recognize the Rescuers, (Not saying I wouldn't want to ride it, but you know how Disney is with its marketing).

Nice idea.

Grizz....have I ever had a bad idea?

The Rescuers is not the most popular film.....it came out during the dark ages in WDFA (well, the first set of dark ages anyway).....it was (IMO) a good film, and it could gain popularity with a decent attraction.

What kid knew of Brer Rabbit prior to the opening of Splash Mountain....probably, not too many.

Speaking of which, let's get that film out!

Oh, gosh, MAJOR THREAD DRIFT.

A Six Flags in Europe has a dark ride with trackless technology and Buzz Lightyear fireing systems. It's called, "Challenge of Tutankahmen" where you shoot at Egyptian deamons ect. in King Tut's tomb.

Here's a link to a video of it: www.sallycorp.com/video/tut_tour.htm

I had really high hopes for Tutankkamen. The ride itself is ok, but it did not meet my expectations let alone surpass them.

Labyrinth of the Minotaur, on the other hand, was one of the biggest surprises of my year - out of everywhere I traveled in 2004. It's at a park in Spain called Terra Mitica - amazing. The detail, the set pieces, the figures, the story telling, everything about it was so well done. Definately a break-out ride for Sally Corp. - who also did the Tut ride. Same type of ride vehicles and track system as Tut as well. How well you score determines how far into the ride you make it - like Tut. Minotaur came first, though.

Funny thing is that Sally Corp. considers Tut to be a far superior ride in every sense. Then again they're also proud of their GhostHunt/GhostBlasters ride, so I guess that says something there.

And as far as the Pooh idea-- have a little vision. Why build another version of an exisiting ride as opposed to something with new subject-matter? There's already a Pooh ride in three of the four parks. There's no need for two rides about Pooh in one park - the exact reason we will never get the phenominal version of Pooh's Hunny Hunt that Tokyo Disneyland got (well, that and Disney would not likely spend $110 million on a Pooh ride if the money was coming out of their own purse.)

Also for what it's worth, Disneyland's Pooh originally WAS to be a flume ride in which you float in hunny pots. The idea was that it would tie the attraction better to Splash Mountain and make a stronger land out of Critter Country because of it.

That would be such a cool ride! Great idea. I loved The Rescuers when I was little. I had the book and had it memorized when I was like 2 or 3. I would "read" it to my brother. Once I was "reading" (more like reciting) it to my brother while we were in a waiting room at a doctors office. People were commenting on how young I was to already be reading, or so I've been told.

The ride is very lame dont get me wrong but its target is young children. Shooting and Winnie the Pooh dont mix! I love flume rides but the drops also wouldnt be a good element for young children! Fantasyland isnt a place for the big adventure rides! Its all about classic disney in my point of view! it just wouldnt work!

The Disneyland Pooh flume concept did not include any drops.

And if Fantasyland is about Classic Disney, then Pooh doesn't completely fit into that qualification either.

Fantasyland is about stories coming to life (Peter Pan, Snow White, Toad etc..) It does fit in my opinion...

Oh, well if you're going to change your definition, then yes, it fits. By your first statement of Classic Disney then it doesn't make any sense.

What's not classic about Pooh? Disney have been making Pooh films since 1966. Surely, Time + Popularity = Classic?

Now we have Buzz it is interesting one of the concepts for MGM`s Sunset Blvd. was D i c k Traceys Crimestoppers - the ride. Think Roger Rabbits Cartoon Spin with Tommy Guns. Apart from budget, one of the reasons the ride was scrapped was the shoot em up element didn`t belong in a Disney park...

Does anyone have a link to pics/info about the Tokyo version? I hear about it so often - but I have no idea what makes it so "special". I'd like to see what I'm missing, hehe.

And I totally agree with Speck. Even if it rocks, we've already got a Pooh ride - and a meet'n'greet coming - and I'd much rather have something NEW at the MK.
