Will I get in trouble for having my old Cast Member tag?

I worked at WDW 15 years ago and the fam and I are heading there very soon for a vacation. I cherished the time I worked there and like to have keepsakes like my old Cast Member name tag. Would Disney frown upon me having this pinned to a backpack, stroller, or another nondescript location like in a bunch of pins? Or should I assume that they're either going to think I'm trying to impersonate a Cast Member or tons of random people are going to come up to me and ask questions the entire trip? =)

I would imagine a FORMER CAST MEMBER such as you, AND I wearing our OLD NAME TAG would not be a pressing issue for Disney!? They sell the same name tags in Merchandise shops all over the World! I wouldn't worry about it, but I wouldn't flaunt it either! Just put it on your backpack and go, if they say ANYTHING to you, just tell them you forgot it was there. The worse they can do is ask you to remove it! P.S. I wouldn't want guest BOTHERING me and asking questions while assuming I am a CM!

I dont think that would be a problem but

Probably yes so i personally wouldnt but if you dont mind people asking you questions from time to time then why not ? Still would be preferable to verify if it wont be an issue to wear it anyway.

My DD was in the DCP and she agreed that she wouldn't take it JUST for the reason of possibly losing it while there...if you want to take it that badly, I would go to Staples, make a color copy of it, glue it onto a heavy piece of cardstock, and glue a pin on it...she values hers too much to potentially lose it, because it won't be replaced.

YES Smiley/OCD! Even though I only worked for WDW for a year, I CHERISH my time spent there and would not put any of the memories in jeopardy! Your nametag identified YOU to the guests! Just imagine how many times your name was uttered from another person from another country or state! KEEP YOUR ORIGINAL NAMETAG!

I would try calling and/or shooting off an email asking them what their policy on that is.

Disney has never sold the "same" name tags in stores. They have sold guest name tags in the past, though I haven't seen them in stores for well over a decade, usually with Disney Characters on them and they've given away name tags for things like D23 Expo Sorcerers or other VIP guests, again, nothing that looks identical to a CM Name Tag.

I wouldn't risk it. You probably wouldn't run into anyone who cared, but all it would take is one manager who wants to be an a-h0le. I remember being told in traditions that the name tag was synonymous with being "on-duty." They always told us to not shop/get gas with our costumes on, but if we did to absolutely take our name tags off. That could have just been our trainer, but I certainly wouldn't risk losing mine for it. I still take mine on job interviews as a good luck charm. I tell myself if I could make it at Disney, I could make it anywhere and it really helps put you in the right head space.

I always leave mine at home. The pin is already almost broken from wearing it during the time that I worked in the parks. It's funny going back now because I have had both Cast Members and Guests come up to me and say "you really look like you know what you are doing!" I saved more guest than I can count from making a Fastpass for Phillarmagic or helping guest find the closest bathroom.

If you worked for any company, store or business and left, you would turn in your employee badge, ID or security card. They would frown upon you coming back strolling through their buildings or stores with an employee badge displayed when you no longer have that right. The CM tag identifies you as a Disney employee. Since you no longer work for Disney they would frown upon it being worn or displayed. They do not want guests approaching you as they could possibly confuse you with a CM on duty. Similar kind of reasoning they dont want guests dressing up in character costumes and having guests do M&G's with non Disney personnel. You could get a pin from guest services and write "former CM" on it to wear and that will get you comments and conversations with the current CM's.

My wife and I still have the guest name tags we bought at the end of the street at the DS in 1999 and we wear them every time we go. They always get us VIP treatment. They definitely don’t sell them anymore. They are gold with our names and say Walt Disney world and that’s it. If I didn’t know better I’d think anyone wearing them were Disney employees. Cast members have asked us why we have them and are we vips.
