Will Disney ever build new Moderate or Value Resorts?

I'm really curious about whether we'll ever see new Moderate or Value Resorts in the future. It feels like all the new constructions at Disney are focused on DVC resorts, which makes sense given the demand and profitability, but I can't help but wonder when we'll get some fresh options for those of us who love the Value and Moderate categories. What do you all think?

What’s a moderate or value resort…?! 🤔 😉
Seriously though, I’m sure when the numbers start crunching in favor of doing either again, they will, but who knows when that’ll be…? 🤷‍♂️

The only way I can see it happening is if another gate was ever added and theye wanted to do a mix of resorts covering Value to DVC in the area around it. But considering to be hyper focus on DVC, I think not.

Ive never seen the value in buying into the DVC. The way we vacation and book trips Ive looked at the promotions, figured out the pay outs and it never gives me any advantage or savings. My sister and her husband have bought into the DVC and comparing the many spent over time on both our trips we come out ahead by quite a bit. As long as Disney gets people in and keeps padding the profits there's no reason to alter their plans.

I could see Disney offering more 'value' options to DVC with more affordable options at existing value resorts. (might be a stretch)

I do see them building another premium resort near MK tho eventually.

Wasn't the building there and they just decided to finish the unfinish side of Pop Century?
What was unfinished was the lobby building and the section that became the Little Mermaid rooms. The Nemo, Cars and Lion King Suites were new builds that began a decade later. The resort opened in 2012 as @NelleBelle said.

If I'm doing my math right, based on this Touring Plans list, about there are 17,284 rooms across the value and moderate resorts, which is about 46% of all the hotel rooms on Disney property, which includes the non-Disney hotels around Disney Springs and Bonnet Creek (several of which are arguably not Deluxe-level accommodations.) So it's not like that market is being underserved right now.

I think you’re going to see them do a rebuild like at Coronado with the tower. Too many people still buying DVC and also willing to pay $600+ a night. With all the Disney partner hotels around the resort not seeing the demand for the value hotel.
On another note wasn’t the original plan around seven seas lagoon to have the Asian hotel too?

Yes, if I remember correctly, that resort was replaced with Grand Floridian.

Only plot I think is left is the plot that would have been Disney's Venetian Resort, but someone else would know a lot more about that than me.

In fairness to Disney, why would they build more value and moderate resorts at this point? They have plenty of availability. As was pointed out, there are over 17,000 such rooms available for booking. The fact that they offer discounts, promos, bundles, etc. clearly shows that their occupancy rate is not exactly 100%. And when was the last time you looked at dates on the Disney Web site and there were no value and moderate rooms available? I just don't see that there is a need that is not being served by what is there at present.
