The Wilderness Lodge is our "home away from home" and I have make lots of promisses to get DH to stay anywhere else. The rooms are nice but the smallest of all the deluxe resorts. I want to say like 340 sq ft. The frig is the same you will find in all the mod and deluxe resorts. It is very nice have boat trasportation to the MK and CR. We have never a real problem with bus service...like everywhere eles. The bus stops themselves are nice as it not one bigs stop for all the parks. Like some resorts you walk up to the bus stop and have no clue who is waitng for what park and weather you will make it on if there is a lot of people waiting..here you know, which i find nice if I dont know where I want to go. Bed size is queen (but after staying at the Boardwalk Inn...I wish WL and better bed covering..but it will not stop me from going back...) As far as room location....its all person opinion. We like being in the main lodge and not in the wing down by the Roaring Fork. We had a great room on the main floor (2nd floor) down the wing right across from the gift shop and near the door to go out to the bus stop. For the life of me I cant find the picture with room # to tell you what it was. Sorry. But I think you will love the Lodge..and if you do stay when you check in ask if there is an opeing to be Flag family of the day..I have been be able to do it but I hear it is worth changing your morning plans if you can do it. Good Luck

How big are the standard rooms?? 344 sq ft

Is there a fridge?? Yes

If so, how big? Small, but big enough to fit water, soda.

What size are the beds? Queen

How reliable is the transport? Reliable, but slow due to sharing bus routes with Grand Floridian, except for MK and Epcot.

Best rooms to request? I like rooms overlooking the lobby. If you request an upper floor room facing the Magic Kingdom, you may see the fireworks at night.

Room size is 344 sq ft with two (2) queen size beds or one (1) queen and bunk beds (if requested).

The rooms are great, and we always felt we had enough room, however the rooms at the WL and those at the AKL, are the smallest Disney deluxe resort rooms (e.q. a standard room at the Contemporary is 394 sq ft)

Our rooms always had a fridge in them, a small dorm room size fridge.

My family enjoyed a room in the "H" overlooking the quiet pool the best of the various rooms we have stayed in.

I will say that we stayed off the lobby once and I enjoyed that as well, yes it was a little noisey when Whispering Canyon Cafe was in full swing but that stopped right at 10pm. In the morning it was great to go down to Roaring Forks get coffee and sit in the lobby while I waited for the family to "get moving." I had several great conversations with the late "Ranger Stan" that trip.

I don't believe they always share buses, the 3 times I've been there they didn't.

On my trips the buses have stopped at Ft Wilderness at times.

Yes I have found that the bus routes share more with Ft. Wilderness more than the Poly and GF these days. But you are hard pressed to find a bus that does not make more than on stop these days so you really cant jugde on this. Its all a part of the game these days. WL is no where near as bad as staying at the Boardwalk....Downtown Disney to the Boardwalk you are looking at close to 7 stops before getting to the Boardwalk.

We stayed at the GF in July and the only resort we shared with was the Wilderness Lodge. In 5 stays at the WL, I don't recall once sharing a bus route with Fort Wilderness.

We LOVE the WL, it's our real home we always say. We had courtyard rooms, overlooking the entire courtyard with the main pool and although I first feared that we would have noise and light from the pool area but the windows were perfect noise protection and the curtains made our room pitchblack so that was not a problem.

I heard and read about the bus transport at the WL being sometimes less than perfect. I have to admit I did not have that experience at all, bus transportation was perfect. We stayed there for 5 days and we never had a longer wait than 10 minutes with the exception of one trip to Typhoon Lagoon. The boat launch to the MK was nice too but the boat took a little longer to get there.

The rooms are actually quite small, too small for a deluxe IMHO if you need a lot of space. We didn't need it so we were still pleased with our room which had perfect mousekeeping (in opposite to the Poly for example) and was perfectly clean. AC was very quiet, an important aspect for us as we are not used to AC noises.

The entire resort by the way is a beauty and I can spend half an hour just sitting in the gargantuan lobby and watch people and listen to the spring (yes there is a spring in the lobby, Silver Creek originates there.

We just got back from the Wilderness Lodge. The busses were always quick coming but it took a very long time to get anywhere. Every bus we were on, except Magic Kingdom, stopped at the Grand Floridian and sometimes Ft. Wilderness. It took us 30-45 minutes to get anywhere.

Thanks, Crush!:)

Yes! Definitely! I wasn't real excited about the amount of time we spent on the busses, but as someone said, that's becoming the norm at a lot of resorts.

Great!!!

No doubt my Q's will get more rapid over the coming months :ROFLOL:

When we stayed at WL back in December, we shared some buses with GF while others we shared with Ft. Wilderness. I know for sure that every bus we took to and from Epcot was shared with Ft. Wilderness during that trip.

On a related note, our bus service was spotty. The boat to MK on the other hand was AWESOME!!!

I was told that our room that trip was a standard room (5081). We were on the far corner of the lobby (i.e. no WCC noise) and we could see Wishes at night from our balcony. :D

We just got back a few weeks ago and we were in room 4149 and had a courtyard view with bunk beds (upgraded at front desk).

We had actually rented a car and did not use it as much as we thought cause we used the transport. For MK, we used the boat every time. The only time we had an issue was in the morning prior to park opening. We were told by the front desk that we had an 8:30am res at CRT. At the time it was 7:35am. We made it to the dock just as the boat was rounding the island away from the dock. It was our belief that at this time boats would be by every 15 minutes once they were running. This was not true. At 8:15 a Contemporary boat captain told us that the next boat would not be by until 8:30. SO we jumped on the contemporary boat, at first went to monorail then realized it only goes one way...walked back down and my husband ran down the walkway to MK to try to get there. He made it to CRT by 8:42 and they honored the res. I tried to get there without pushing the kids to far as it was our first vaca day and already quite hot!

That being said, it didn't ruin our day (although I didn't get to lavish in that first walk down Main Street as I would have liked from a 3 year absence! I had planned that reservation early so we could do just that.) We used the boat every time to MK throughout the trip and used the buses for every place else. We didn't share with FW but certain buses were shared with GF.

 Yes, VERY close...so close I can ALMOST taste Norway School Bread! I have to admit, we requested a room with a queen bed and bunk bed....with the plan that the 4 y.o. crashes on the top bunk...Mom-in-law sleeps on bottom bunk...wife and I on queen bed...but I have this feeling.....that I will be on top bunk while 4 y.o. crashes from all the outings and I am carring her up to the room! :D I will let you know how it goes when I post! I do hope you are doing well these days! :sohappy:
