Why no character meal geared toward boys?

Okay, I have a grandson, which is the main reason I thought of this topic. Why doesn't Disney have a meal with characters like Buzz Lightyear, Woody and even Jesse? Goofy could be dressed in western gear. They could have a stationary Lightening McQueen and Mater, that talked. It seems that everything special is for girls.

For years DW and I have said the same thing. We always felt that a Toy story (Buzz and Woody) or Pirate themed meal would have been good. The characters at the Liberty Tree Tavern were geared for both boys and girls but they are of course gone.

Pirates would be great too. They could even have different rooms such as a western theme, cars theme and pirates theme.

98% of Disney marketing seems aimed at young girls and their purchasing of girl things. Disney has had very little offer to males of any age - especially boys.
It is great to know that I'm not the only one who has noticed this.

The Pooh characters at Crystal Palace are probably the most neutral as far as character meals go, with Garden Grill as another option. I could see the draw in a new character dining experience with Toy Story characters or something more boy oriented. My guess is any unique set of characters at a restaurant would be a big draw for guests. As much as people like seeing Mickey, Minnie, Goofy and Pluto, seeing different characters is always exciting.

Definitely a pirate-themed restaurant, maybe even attached to PoC. I think this could be a huge success. Especially with The Pirates League. Make it one big experience, it could completely change Disney Marketability on boys.

I have 2 boys & I wish there were more character meals geared toward them too.
I think a "Pirates of the Caribbean" themed meal would be cool...or a Disney Villians meal.

I agree... we need a different character dining experience!

I've always wanted a "Disney Heros" type character meal. It could include Woody, Robin Hood, Peter Pan, even Mickey dressed as one of three Musketeers, etc. How much fun would that be?

There is a Pirates Dinner Theater Adventure offsite...

I've never been, and I'm not daring to suggest it's better than Disney's dinner theater fare or that Disney couldn't do better. But for all who are wishing for a Pirates-themed character meal, I'm just humbly suggesting this: were Disney to do any sort of Pirates themed meal, it couldn't JUST be a character meal, or else it would be compared to this thing, which is a whole show. Disney would have to do it bigger and better, and compete with this established entity.

Could Disney do it? Sure, I have no doubt they could. But the way Disney pinches pennies of late, they wouldn't. And therein lies the rub. They can't do a pirate's meal unless it were bigger than this thing, and they wouldn't want to spend the cash to make it happen.

You're probably better off wishing for another sort of character dining experience. Or, you know, going offsite  But, hey, if Disney ever started feeling like too many people were going offsite for experiences like this one, they may decide to pony up the bucks to compete.

I know there are murder-mystery dinner shows throughout Orlando, but I wonder if there is a haunted mansion-style experience. That would intrigue me. Something like Jekyll and Hyde's used to be in NYC, but based on HM.

I was going to say the same thing. My boy has a great time at Chef Mickey's. Although a Toy Story character dinner would be great too. I am sure that would always be packed. Hopefully they will add that to Studio's in the future.

Am I the only one that thinks that the Pixar characters look absolutely ridiculous in costume form? Buzz and Woody's faces never seem to look like they should. It's a challenge because they're very much borderline between "face" and "charicature."

Dug was pretty good when I saw him at the Magic of Disney Animation, but the "human" Pixar characters always seem to look a little goofy.

I think Woody, Jessie and Bullseye look great. I agree with you that Buzz is a little strange looking. He also moved weird. I am sure the costume is prohibitive to normal movements. I haven't seen Flick in person yet but the pictures do look strange. However the kids don't care. They are just happy to interact with them.

I'd love to see a REAL Buzz Lightyear. A real guy's head in a fiberglass "whoosh" helmet with fully functional buttons, a laser embedded in the arm, hard body armor, "titanium carbonic alloy" wings, rocket backpack, etc. This would obviously be prohibitively expensive and won't happen until NASA develops the real thing (oops), but I can dream.

When my kids were coming up, I didn't think the character breakfasts were for girls. Mickey, Minnie, Chip and Dale, Pluto and Goofy were the usual suspects making rounds at the table.

One particular visit, there was a Pocahontas breakfast at Ft Wilderness with Meeko, Pocahontas, John Smith and Gov. Radcliffe made an appearance.

As mentioned, the Crystal Palace has Pooh characters which are not "for girls."

I understand there are some specific princess meals at Cinderella's Castle and at Norway, but there's also Donald's breakfast at the Animal Kingdom Park, right?

I don't see the need for a "Boys Only" breakfast. The boys I grew up with would rather, for the money, have an extra dish of bacon and hashbrowns than meet male characters.

That's not to say a "Boys Only" meal couldn't be a success. To answer the question, I would say it is my opinion that there isn't a "For Boys" meal because the perception is that this isn't something particularly needed. Sorry for all the quotes.

already sent a suggestion.....

I have wondered that myself everytime we've gone to WDW. After our second trip I even sent an email suggesting just that. We've eaten at plenty of character meals geard towards girls (for the restaurant, not the character meal) like 1900 Park Fare and ones geared towards all like Chef Mickey's but I wish they did have at least one geared just towards the boys. Pirates would be great because that could include all ages but I'd love to see Toy Story or Cars. Maybe if more people sent in that request they'd finally listen?
