Why hasn't Disney raised it's parking fee to $16?

Universal raised theirs a while back. Not only that, but Disneyland raised theirs as well. Seems odd that WDW hasn't followed suit. The theme park ticket/parking pricing almost always changes within days of the competitors doing it, but for some reason WDW hasn't done it this time. Not that I am complaining, or care (as an AP).

As for that extra $1... For each week they don't follow suit, it's about $100,000 in lost revenue. A month and you're talking nearly a half million dollars.

Actually WDW did raise the parking price I believe. It was $14.00 and they raised it to $15.00. Universal was already 1 dollar higher.

But $16.00 would be more profitable, and as the OP illustrated, would certainly add up over the course of a year. Personally, if I'm paying $15.00 now to park all day, I can manage an extra $1.00 if it would help the overall benefit of the company. Heck, a Double Cheeseburger at McDonald's costs less than that.

Great next time you go pay the 16$ and the guy/girl can pocket it as a tip...I personally think 15 is pushing it when you are paying 100 a day to get in place.

I don't know why they don't raise it to $20. It's the most magical parking lot on earth, and my car gets such a great experience out there.
^This. Paying $16.00 at the parking gate poses the challenge of having to get one-dollar bills back in change, as most people will pay with a $20 and receive $4 back. But who wants to carry around extra $1's all day which could easily get lost, wet, stolen, etc. If Disney made the fee a straightforward $20.00 charge, then this would remove the hassle of getting back those $1's, and you can just hand the parking attendant a crisp 20-dollar bill...end of story. Less stress.
If I'm paying $15.00 now to park, I can handle a measley $5.00 more. That's less than a Taco Bell combo meal.

I understand you. I just don't understand Disney sometimes. It's like they want us to take advantage of them, paying less to park when other places charge more. Heck, in NYC, you're lucky to pay only $40 to park all-day...that is considered cheap up there. :jawdrop:

Wake up, Disney!

I can see Universal being somewhat justified if that's possible. Since they have parking garages there is wear and tear that needs constant attention, where Disney is a simply asphalt.

But isn't the DTD expansion adding garages? I've always found it odd that parking has been free at DTD in the past. Maybe the addition of garages will justify a fee (whether hourly or daily) for usage. As an article said not too long ago: Disney is picking up pennies while missing opportunities for dollars.

Don't most people pay for parking and most WDW stuff with their credit card? I rarely see people buying things with cash there.

But I get your point. If they were to raise to $20, that extra $5 per day is about $27 million more per year. And I do not think $20 is outrageous. It costs that much to park at most stadiums and arenas for a measly 3 hour game.

If I had to pay to go to DTD I wouldn't go.

$5.15 is minimum wage in some places...not all people can afford to pay full price...they should make scale parking available...right up to the gate got 20 $ so wealthy people like yourself can get your moneys worth and not have to deal with all the low bills that plague you..and 15$ for me and I'm sure some other folks who like to save some cash on a really expensive vacation. And yes credit card is one way to avoid singles.

I'm sure that there must have been a survey done that showed that 9 out of 10 Guests at Disney feel that carrying around the extra weight of those $1.00 bills would be an unreasonable burden. It would create a situation that would absolutely ruin their vacation. All of them have stated over and over that they will gladly pay the full $20.00 if it means that they don't have to drag that additional cash around all day. Who wouldn't???:in pain:
