Who is your favorite Star Trek Engineer?

My marathon continues! Voyager S2E1 tonight!

Rounding out the "Fab four" of any Star Trek show are the ones who "give it all they've got" to take us to strange new worlds, the Engineers!

Who is your favorite Star Trek Engineer, and why?
Who is your LEAST favorite Star Trek Engineer, and why?

Is it? Classic Scotty?

This is my favorite. He's impacted my life, and inspired me to love engineering and technical skills! I LOVE THIS MAN! And, Doohan was the king at the role (though, Simon Pegg really filled the role extremely well!)

One of these? (Sarah MacDougal, Lt. Cmdr. Argyle, Lt. Logan or Leland T. Lynch)

Or maybe Geordi Laforge?

Maybe Chief O'Brian?

It was really hard not to choose him as my favorite Engineer, only because any episode with O'brian, was likely a good or great episode.

It could be Torres?

She is my least favorite. Again, as with many of the characters in this series, her writing was just...off, and it's like they couldn't decide where they wanted to ever go with her character.

Or Commander Tucker?

Or Scotty 2.0?

Wow, this is harder than the doctors. It's going to have to be a three-way tie between Doohan's Scotty, O'Brian and LaForge, with Pegg's Scotty close behind. They were all such great characters. I didn't care that much about any of the others. Those 4 were vastly superior to the rest of the list.

Gotta love Torres. She was so angry all the time and everyone was scared of her, hmm I had an ex like that...

I wasn't keen on Simon Peggs Scotty. I think he was placed in the role because they knew he'd go down well with sci-fi fans. I wonder if Nick Frost will turn up in the next movie now that Pegg is scripting it?

B'Elanna. She's awesome. Got such a temper. Other than Seven, my favorite Voyager character. A little sassy. Very blunt. I liked her character. I thought this was another great example of Star Trek building on a previous plotline that they weren't able to explore. Alexander's mother was half Klingon on TNG, but they killed her off. I think the writers knew a half Klingon, half human character would be interesting for the duration of a series. They were really able to explore her battle with herself, between the Klingon and human halves. And her relationship with Tom is probably my favorite on any series, with Jadzia/Worf being a close second. As Seven said, "Given the volatile nature or their relationship, one might have expected homicide as opposed to matrimony."

One of my favorite moments with her. After Tom and Harry modified Neelix's program by adding some sexy women, she didn't whine about it. She made her own "modifications."


I liked all of the other engineers as well. Including new Scotty. He had some pretty big shoes to fill after Doohan. But I liked him and Doohan.
