Which studio to rent.....

I know this is about DVC rooms, but it's also about resorts so I wanted to get some input from you guys. I might see if the Mrs. wants to rent DVC points next year instead of taking the FD bounce back so we can try a deluxe. If we just get CS meals then it will balance out. Plus that ties us up from an hour or more per day that usually goes towards a TS meal.

Anyhow, I'm looking at either a studio room at Animal Kingdom Lodge or a studio room at the Boardwalk Villas. Which one would you pick and why?

Personally, I like the BWV because it's so close to Epcot and that's my favorite park.

I would say BWV also! While I'm sure both rooms and resorts are fabulous in their own respects, AKL is just so far from everything. We're staying there in February because this is our one trip where being to park at rope drop and staying out late isn't a priority to us. It's more of a relaxing trip. If we were going to be go go go, I would definitely opt for a closer resort to the action.

BWV!! Like others have said....location. You can't be just walking to either park. Something else that is a plus is you are only waiting on 3 buses (MK, AK, DTD) so the wait doesn't seem AS bad. However, you are sharing buses with swan and dolphin so plan ahead as it will take a little longer.

Nothing beats being able to walk back from the parks while others are waiting for buses. Also super close to Beaches and Cream, Yachtsmen, and Boardwalk Bakery! That whole area doesn't feel like a hotel. It feels like you are actually at a small little town. Very relaxing just watching the friendship boats going around the lake.

BW wins hands down on location. You can walk to Epcot and DHS and take the boat. The night life there is fun and you have the BAKERY right there. You could always split stay and do half at AKV(which I do love) and also BW?

Our plan for July is to split between BW or BC and VGF.

Boardwalk. We always stay at the Yacht Club because of its location. The Boardwalk is very similar to the Yacht Club's location. It's in walking distance to Epcot, and you can take a water taxi to Hollywood Studios. You can also explore the boardwalk, which is always fun, especially at night. I also think the theming is better at the Boardwalk as opposed to the AKL. It's a personal preference, though. The Boardwalk just has a lot more to offer, I feel.

AKV because I wouldn't be likely to go in the parks anyway. It's nice to have a stand alone destination without the herds of people. That's just me and I realize I'm not like most. :D

If your next trip is during F&W, you will need to book the Epcot resorts early. They fill up real fast. We rented DVC points last year about six months out and were not able to get any Epcot resort.

For location (especially the proximity to Epcot), I'd go with BWI. The AKL is far and away my favorite hotel, though and I'll always pick it over any of the others. It's just so relaxing and unique.

Stayed, on points, at BWV this past September...it was great to be able to walk to either DHS or Epcot...many times we could walk back way before the boat would get there. It was also nice to have the dining and drinking options available on the Boardwalk...didn't have ADRs and we always got a table; just 2 of us.

I would do BWV because of the proximity to Epcot for dining and the hot tub by the quiet pool...although quite honestly I prefer BC over BW...I liked AKL when we stayed there a couple of nights 2 summers ago, but more because the kids enjoyed themselves so much not because I was overly impressed with the resort. For a serene resort experience I actually preferred the moderate CSR over AKL....And if you are planning on doing the quick service meals rather than table service ones then definitely being close to Epcot is going to give you lots of variety close by versus staying at AKV.

I would also go with the Boardwalk Villas because of it's walkways to Epcot and Hollywood Studios. Plus I think the whole atmosphere over there is amazing, so you can't go wrong.

I love AKL. We stayed in the Jambo House in a 2 br villa which was in the main building. We did take the shuttle over to Kidani where the vacation club villas are and loved the pool. The kids loved the playground/ water play area. The pool bar was really cool and had some good food options and mug refill station. There are tons of animal observation areas around the Villas and it is such a relaxing and cozy place. It doesn't really bother me that AKL is far away and the buses take a little longer.

If you have a car AKL, It's an AWESOME resort and there are a ton of activities at the resort itself, From cooking classes at Jiko to Night Vision viewing of the savanna at night.
