Where to Stay?!

So our family has stayed at WDW many times over the past 20yrsweve been taking our kids. Last visit we stayed off-site at a VRBOand we all hated it—never again!

My delima is where should I stay with two boys (age 20 and 17)?? There would also be my mom, who needs a scooter)and maybe the DH. Should I book a DVC (2br) or do 2 adjoining rooms? I refuse to share a bathroom with these two “boys”…just yuck! I’m leaning towards a resort within walking distance but am open to other ideas.

I’m asking for help with this because when I booked last year, I must’ve changed resorts 6 times before settling on OKW in a 1-br for my mom and me. I’m not wanting to do all that rebooking this year!😁

OKW and Saratoga Springs would be your best bet in my opinion. The two bedroom units would be great. It would give you the two bathrooms along with the kitchen and laundry.
Not sure what you are referring to by walking distance. But the two bedroom DVC units at either Boardwalk or Beach Club would be within walking distance of Hollywood Studios and Epcot. Contemporary DVC would let you walk to the Magic Kingdom. Good luck.

I believe OKW 2 br would be the best $ wise. The DW & I stayed @ BLT 1 br and it had 2 complete bathrooms. Plus, it's walking distance to MK. We had also talked to one of the castmembers that kind of guarded the elevator to the Top of the World lounge, and the let us up to the top of BLT to watch the fireworks. Couldn't use the lounge because we weren't DVC members, but great view on the balcony.. Expensive even Renting points from Dave's, but a bucket list Resort. Just my two cents.

I've only stayed at two DVC Resorts, both in Deluxe Studios. Boulder Ridge and OKW. I found OKW requires a LOT MORE walking than Boulder Ridge, plus I find the theming at Boulder Ridge (and Wilderness Lodge for that matter) much more charming and rustic. So I'd say the 1BR Suite at Boulder Ridge may be your best bet, plus you have watercraft transportation to MK.

I don't know what your boys like, but have you considered the Dolphin or Swan? Both tend to be a little more adult-ish than some of the more Disney-oriented hotels. There is a lot to do on-site. The gym is actually very well done and conceived. The pool is also fairly adult-ish. There is also a basketball court if I recall correctly. And there's plenty of watercraft rentals. And since it's connected to the boardwalk, they can walk to that area and kill some time that way.

You know what the boys would love?

Put them in Pop Century by themselves. You and mom (and maybe hubby) stay at the Boardwalk/Wilderness Lodge/Grand Floridian.)

Our DDs are 22 and 25 now and we have been doing 2 rooms at POFQ for the past few trips. Having 2 bathrooms and the extra space is a must for our family. POFQ is easy on the budget, a compact resort, has great bus service, really yummy quick service food with several unique offerings, and a relaxing boat ride to DS.

We used to stay here when our boys were very young. Both of the PO resorts are favorites. I'm tending to lean towards one of the deluxe resorts for the EEH since they're night owls and love to sleep in. But still up in the air about which resort to choose (and when we go I guess will be dictated by which university youngest DH decides to attend).

In that case, I usually research the dates and see which deluxe has the best deal, factor in proximity to parks and personal preferences, and pull the trigger!

Kidani One Bedroom at AK will have a room for five and 2 bathrooms. Cheapest option I think that has the 2 baths
King bed in the one room. Fold out full of queen in the other and a fold out sleeping chair.

Thank you everyone for ideas! I've tucked them away but it looks like it will probably be another "girls" trip with just me and my mom, unless I can convince the youngest DS, who's off to college this fall, to join us. The oldest DS would normally want to go with us but he's debating on staying in home here in Hawaii and working full time this summer rather than going back to his grandparents in Seattle. And because I'm so indecisive, I'll bug everyone about which hotel, "x" vs "y", I should choose for our "girls" trip 🤣
