Ivory Tower Squabble EST 2011. WINDMILL SURVIVOR
Hubby and I are watching 42 (The Story of Jackie Robinson).
I am alternately ashamed, proud, and horrified.
While things aren't perfect, thank you Lord that the majority of us don't feel this way anymore.
Yep, times they did a change. I was in WDW a few years ago and someone called me a Yankee in a context that even my parents could not relate to. Unfortunate.
I and my family had the misfortune of being in a hotel room for the night driving down to Florida when I was a small kid the night Martin L. King was shot. We were in Perry Georgia. My Dad threw us in the car saying we had to get out of there as the riots had started. He had us lay on the floor of the car as large groups of people threw rocks at our car as my Dad headed for the highway, he didn't stop for red lights. He said our blessing for getting out of Dodge that evening was he had filled the car with gas already. I was so scared and yet really didn't grasp what the heck was happening, much like my DD on 9/11.
Sorry.
