I'm planning a trip either November or December next year. At what point do they normally have the decorations and everything xmas themed up and going??

I love gone a few times the last full week before Thanksgiving (leaving the Saturday before) and the decorations appear at the parks throughout the week. By the end of the week most resorts have their displays up as well.

Typically Magic Kingdom decorations go up within the first week after Halloween. Then they are on a rolling install schedule everywhere else on property including resorts and parks over the next few weeks; a little each day. They are usually all finished, everywhere by Thanksgiving weekend.

Magic Kingdom - First week of November
Epcot - Thanksgiving Week (3rd week of November due to Food & Wine Festival)
Disney's Hollywood Studios - First or second week of November
Disney's Animal Kingdom - Second week of November
Resorts - Second or third week of November

All the Christmas festivities usually start the day after Thanksgiving and go until December 30th usually. Decorations will still be up until the 2nd week of January, sometimes pushing MLK Day Weekend.

If you have never been to Disney around the holidays, I'd say plan to deal with large crowds. If you hate crowds avoid Thanksgiving week, and December 21st through January 1st

I was there from November 8th -13th this year. The MK was fully decked out and MVMCP was in full swing. The resorts still had decorations going up during that time. Epcot and MGM still had a ways to go but you can tell the season was changing. AK also had their tree up as well.
