What would you like to see in Fantasmic?

If you didn't know already, WDW has been working on touching up Fantasmic! at Disney's Hollywood Studios. New firework, lighting, and special effects, and, it may just be me, but it looks like they even upgraded the projectors.

Even with these new "touch-up's", there is still room for improvement.
What would you like to see them add or improve?
Give us details! I'd like to know your opinions and how creative you can get!

I think I speak for a lot of people when I say this, but I'd like to see an improved dragon. Maybe not full body since the stage isn't large enough, but at least a step up from a stick and a head. I am also getting a little tired of the fireball effect. I like what they use in California. It looks like a fire-breathing dragon.

That's really my main issue. Others are minor.

So what do you think?

I want a real dragon, too. I was so disapointed the first time I saw Fantasmic that it was a stick with a head. Certainly not what they lead you to believe in the promotion.

Other than that, I really enjoy the show - although a little less video screen and a little more action would be nice.

Bring in the Shadow Man!

I would like to see some updated villain scenes, possibly bringing in some of Disney's newer villains to mix with what the show already has. When watching The Princess And The Frog during Dr. Facilier's "Friends On The Other Side" bit, my first thought was how neat it would look to have those shadow creatures in a show like Fantasmic. I suggest they throw Faci into the show somehow, possibly making him the "conjurer", so to speak, of Mickey's bad dreams. He is the shadow man, afterall.
Not to mention the Disney imagineers could have a field day with the shadow creature effects.

I also would like to see more fireworks in the show's finale.

Edit: Something else came to mind. The entire song itself, "Friends On The Other Side", could be a great intro number to bring in the villain characters.

A better storyline. Why is there so much of Pocahontas in it. That never made sense to me.

Someone will probably correct me if I’m wrong, but this is what I read. Since the Fantasmic at WDW was not going to have a ship like the Columbia, the Peter Pan scene needed to be replaced. They chose Pocahontas because it was the first feature film fully animated by the team that worked within the animation building at Disney’s Hollywood Studios back in its day. It helped tie the show into the park.

I'd like to see a new dragon, the replacing of Pocahontas with Peter Pan like at Disneyland, Some new villains added in, and some more sequences like the dragon and Jafar, with big villains and such.

As Crockett stated earlier, I think they should include Dr. Facilier (or something pertaining to The Princess and the Frog) in the show. I would not mind at all if he replaced Chernabog (in fact, I think he would make even better villain in the show). Most kids today have never seen Fantasia and probably never will, so I doubt they would even recognize who he is. Dr. Facilier, on the other hand, I'm sure a majority of them are familiar with. It would be awesome to see all of the voodoo, tikis, and shadows he conjures.

Aside from that, "Friends on the Other Side" is just a kick butt song in general. Are you ready? Are you ready? (Bum, bum, bum...) Transformation central! :p

If they don't do that, at the very least they should update the dragon and bubble effects. Most of the movies shown in those bubbles are from over a decade ago. Add some new films and characters! Sheesh!

Sumshine has a point about Chernabog but he's a classic along with Fantasia it's self. I think we should get a Chernabog like the dragon at Disneyland. That'd be awesome and we already have the mountain.

I agree with the people who say bring some of the DL story elements into the mix. I love Fantasmic, but had issues with it. After watching Disneyland's, all of those issues were absent and fixed.

- I hate the villain monologue scene where their faces crossfade into one another. Cheesy and incredibly clumsy. That goes for the overly-long villain death scenes, which contain some HORRIBLE editing (repeating the same frame over and over again looks awful). Get rid of it and either cut down the villains or find ways to spread them out more evenly over the story.

- Pocahontas just doesn't fit to me. I love Peter Pan, he should be there instead. Even if they need to get a smaller boat, whatever it takes.

- I also like the Pink Elephant music. Pretty epic remix. Wish it was in ours.

In terms of effects, i say more fireworks. They've cut down on the amount they use compared to the 90's fireworks shows all around the parks. Assuming we never get World of Color (which i hope someday we do), maybe they could incorporate parts of it and its water effects into Fantasmic.

Re-make stage. Add more water space. Add Columbia, Mark Twain. Add WOC fountains and Mickey walking over water. Add new Dragon and new Villains. Add a better finaled keeping same lyrics/idea. That would make an updated Fantasmic! :sohappy:

I am against clones. I like DL's Fantasmic! the way that it is, but I think DHS's Fantasmic! should be unique.
I like the fact that the older park's shows focuses on the older movies and DHS's show has scenes from the newer movies. I think they should improve the technology and use elements from the newer movies.

I want to weigh in especially on the dragon. For those of you that are not aware of it the California dragon has had a couple of breakdowns. He most recently collapsed in August during a show. They got him repaired with several months of TLC. Sometimes bigger isn't always better. I have only seen the HS version on dvd but I can tell you that without the pirate ship the whole Peter Pan scene would not work. Also due to the space for the HS show I think there are some other limitaions. In DL they have the whole Rivers of America to work in and I think that makes a big difference. If they could move the HS show to MK they could probably copy the DL version. My response to that would be why. I like that there are unique things at WDW.

I just watched DL's version and I will admit there dragon is amazing and I wish we had it but seeing the DHS version so many times and knowing it by heart, I thought it was weird at certain parks.(For example when ursula sings poor unfortunate souls.)
So besides the dragon, I would only fix some of the editing and add more characters.

AND I think the villains should come out on a boat or something with friends on the other side playing.

I agree with "bigger isn't always better"

Many people want to see a new "bigger" dragon at DHS, and believe me, I would LOVE to see a new dragon, but it doesn't have to be bigger. As long as it wouldn't be a stick with a head on it, I would be fine.
