what was the best WDW guest meltdown you've observed

I've seen some good ones over my visits and wondered why folks bring young ones to Disney and subject them to a forced march through the parks.

Probably one of the best ones was in Disneyland. I was walking through Fantasyland and generally toward the front of the park, and was walking behind a dad and 2 maybe 13 year old boys. The dad was non-stop berating one of the kids (I gathered that the other kid was a buddy) for ruining the trip. The dad kept going off about how he'd taken a day off work, spent all kinds of money, made plans, and now they had to leave because the son was a rude little jerk. I never did hear what the kid had done, but the dad was so over the top rant-y that it was embarrassing.

My best was at the Grand Californian at DL. We were sitting at the pool and had just ordered a beverage. A guy a few feet away had just started yelling at a CM because his beverage did not arrive in a quick enough fashion to suit him, even though the pool was very crowded, and the CMs were extremely busy. He talked about how he had been in the service industry forever, and that the service he was getting totally sucked, and that it shouldn't take so long to get a beverage. She tried to explain that they were busy, but he didn't care. HIS needs should come first before other people since he had paid so much (like everyone else was staying there for free). He continued ranting for 10 minutes at this poor girl, and then finally physically threatened her if he didn't get his drink like now. We could NOT believe this idiot. We went to the CM manager and pointed him out, told her a few things he had said, and security was there inside 30 seconds escorting him away. The poor girl was in tears at this point, and we talked with her to calm her down.

We found out later from the CM manager (who comped all of our drinks that afternoon!) that the jerk was actually kicked out of the hotel, and told not to come back! Karma was rally working that day!

Not sure if it was a meltdown but a few trips ago the family was riding the bus from the Polynesian to Hollywood Studios. It was the morning and we were still half asleep (well, at least I was). My dad and I sat between other people on the bus (against the bus wall in the front half of the bus). No big deal, some other people came on at The Grand Floridian (haha, it's always funny how expensive it is to stay there and they get the last stop on the bus). I didn't even notice who came on since I was still waking up but apparently a family with a few kids and grandparents came on and I'm not sure who was standing, but I know at least the grandfather was. So we get to Hollywood Studios, and apparently grandpa had enough. The bus doors open, people start to get up, and he looks at my dad and I, stares us down, and he says, in a defiant Southern accent "sumb***h."

I don't know if it's because we were sitting or what, but we were too amazed that he said that to think of a reply. Clearly, he had had enough of the family and was possibly sleep deprived. Not an attention grabbing freak out, but it was oddly directed towards us.

That idiot has no idea what kind of physical issues you or your father may have had. It is still sometimes amazing how stupid some people are. I wonder if he thought he should get a seat just because he was staying at the Grand Floridian?

while having lunch in tomorrow land (where sunny eclipse is. forgot the name of the place), we sat on the balcony & witnessed a family totally melt down.
the daughter in the group (mid 30's) actually went off on her parents about how they do everything they want to do, & not what she wants to do.
it went back & forth for about what seemed a long 2-3 minutes before they all got up & left. a meal & a show.

I once got hostile towards some lady in the Frontierland candy store for cutting me in line.

Really, I've come to the conclusion that there are simply a lot of naturally rude people out there and/or people who have a sense of entitlement (as you noted about him staying at the Grand Floridian and possibly thinking he deserves everything to go exactly his way).

Watched a meltdown between a husband and wife. The guy was apparently not a Disney fan while the wife was. From the time we began our way in the lengthy line on Space Mtn, he griped about every facet of their trip. The lines were long, the food was expensive, the weather was rainy or hot, on and on and on. Finally it turned into a full blown war between the two of them and they turned around, left the line and stormed off. I've wondered if their marriage ever survived the rest of the trip.

While not all that epic, it was a scene my family references all the time.

Let me set the scene....We are near the E:E fast pass machines, sitting down and partaking in some of the local cuisine. We see a typical family. Mom, dad and 2 kids under 10. The thing that catches our attention is mom has a clipboard full of papers. It is quite obvious that mom is the general in this army of 4.

One of the little soldiers, lets call him Private Billy, asks to go to the bathroom.

General mom replies quite sternly "It is not in the schedule."

Private dad points out that there is a bathroom right over over here that Private Billy can use.

General mom again repeats the order in a much sterner tone "I said it is not in the schedule!!"

Private dad points out that this is their vacation as well and Private Billy should be allowed an unscheduled bathroom stop.

General mom looses it. She throws the clipboard in the air screams something to the effect of 'I quit!!!!" and storms off.

Newly promoted General dad directs Private Billy to the nearby bathroom. When Private Billy emerges from the bathroom, General dad, absolutely sick with his new found power, looks at his 2 remaining soldiers and asks "You guys want ice cream?"

Hopefully General Dad got himself a Dole Whip w/ rum.

Our very first trip to Disney was our honeymoon, and we ended up on the receiving end of an epic rant from a very angry woman who told us we were setting a bad example for her kids and ruining everyone's vacation by cheering for Chernabog in the Spectro Magic parade.
Chernabog is worthy. That woman is blasphemous. She will feel the consequences of her actions from the wrath of Gobanrehc, Chernabog's avenging cousin.

I thought of another one. I was enjoying a nice dinner in the Brown Derby when I saw a disturbance at a nearby table. Seems teenage daughter was upset about something, stood up and slugged her mother really hard in the arm, and started to exit. Dad tried to intervene, and he was punched in the arm too. He then just stood aside and let her flounce out. A few minutes later Dad went outside to find her. She had apparently calmed down, and came back in, sat down, and finished the meal. Dad and Mom were so casual about all of this that I could only surmise that teenage daughter did this a lot. What a fun family. . .

My personal favorite was the woman in Magic Kingdom screaming at the cast member sweeping up the sidewalk on Main Street because she had paid all this money to go to Disney World and it was raining and her vacation was ruined. Granted, it was raining very hard (there was a tropical storm that was sideswiping Orlando), but I am not really sure what the janitorial staff can do about that.

I also saw a woman at DL meltdown because the candy store didn't have any organic options.
