What was/is the large tree like structure

that looked to be being constructed outside of Animal Kingdom? We returned from a weeklong trip that we took mid July. While we where riding the bus around to AK to be dropped off, we spotted a large skinny tree like structure to the left of the bus as we pulled in to the drop off zones. The "tree" was not in the park itself, but seemed to be just on the outskirts. It reminded us of the Tree of Life during its early construction phase with a trunk like structure and lots of smaller branches jutting out from it. Much skinnier though... Any one have any clues as to what it might be/have been?

If you're looking to the left from the main entrance, is that where you're talking about? If so, then I saw it too, today while leaving AK Lodge. I noted it also and have NO idea what that could be.

Cellular tower along with the new wi-fi that Disney is installing everywhere would be my guess. They do like to hide those sort of mundane things as best they can.

Like others have mentioned, it's a cell tower with greenery. There also one west of the Magic Kingdom. I had a pair of binoculars in my car and brought them one day just to see what they were.

There's long been a cell tower in that area, with fake tree branches on it. Maybe they were re-skinning the themed branches?

I think Kevin Yee is right. He's an expert on Disney and I trust his opinion. I bet they were re-skinning this tower like Kevin said. I've seen other towers in other parts of the country that were designed to look like trees, too.

Better view of the AK tower: http://binged.it/MBMVcX

and here's the one by the Grand Floridian: http://binged.it/MBNlQv

And since I was bored I started poking around to see where else Disney was hiding some towers. These are locations listed as having antennas

Contemporary Roof: http://binged.it/MBOwQ3

Mickey's Philharmagic Roof: http://binged.it/MBQW14

Space Mountain Roof, inside dome structure: http://binged.it/MBSkRe

American Pavilion Roof: http://binged.it/MBUikE

Tower of Terror Roof: http://binged.it/MBVnsL

I think the Swan might have some to too on its' roof.

It's amazing how they can hide an otherwise eyesore of a cell tower. That's what makes Disney World so unique, they think of the smallest details.

The netting was there a couple of weeks ago when I checked (I don't visit DAK every week, alas... definitely too hot in summer!)
