What Disney Movies Are On Disney+ ?

I saw a post on Attractions Magazine that gave an alphabetical list of every movie and TV show available on Disney+ on launch day. I decided to make separate lists of all the Disney movies made to better understand which titles will be on the streaming service.

These lists are intended to be updated on an ongoing basis as more movies become available on Disney+. Some movies that have been released to DVD and or Blu-ray will not be on Disney+ at launch, but hopefully will be within the first year.

These lists are of feature-length "Disney" branded movies. They do not include Pixar, Marvel, Touchstone etc., but I may make lists of those and add them to this thread. Or if someone else wants to they can. :)

Titles in BOLD are on Disney+

Not surprisingly, most movies released after 1985 will be on Disney+. Why Jungle Book 1994 isn't but the direct-to-video spin-off will be I have no idea.

Popeye and Dragonslayer were co-productions with Paramount. In the US, Paramount has the distribution rights, in Europe Disney does. It will be interesting to see if they show up in international versions of Disney+.

No Johnny Tremain? That's garbage.

It was broadcast on TCM HD and is available on itunes. One would hope it would be uploaded by July 4th next year.

Disney may be delaying the release of some of these movies until after they get put on Blu-ray through DMC. Dr. Syn is coming this Tuesday, but won't be on Disney+ until maybe months after November 12.

Moving on to TV movies, many of these early titles were show in theatres outside of the US, while broadcast as multi-part episodes of the Wonderful World of Color. Later when that show became The Wonderful World of Disney, these movies where then shown it full at once.

Not surprisingly, nearly all of the pre-1980 titles will not be on Disney+ day one. When I saw Sammy on the list I had to dig to see what else might be there, but not much luck:

Disney TV Movies (Pre-1980)

Texas John Slaughter: Gunfight at Sandoval

The Nine Lives of Elfego Baca

The Peter Tchaikovsky Story

Moochie of the Little League

Moochie of Pop Warner Football

The Horsemasters

Eflego Baca: Six Gun Law

Hans Brinker or the Silver Skates

Sancho, The Homing Steer

The Prince and the Pauper (?)

Escapade in Florence

Sammy, the Way Out Seal

The Magnificent Rebel

The Mooncussers

Johnny Shiloh

The Horse Without a Head

The Waltz King

The Ballad of Hector, The Stowaway Dog

Bristle Face

For the Love of Willadean

The Tenderfoot

Gallegher

The Legend of Young Dick Turnip

Ballerina

The Boy Who Flew with Condors

Atta Girl, Kelly!

The Flight of the Grey Wolf

Kit Carson and the Mountain Men

Barry of the Great St. Bernard

The Ghost of Cypress Swamp

The Track of the African Bongo

The Bluegrass Special

Trail of Danger

The Million Dollar Dixie Deliverance

Child of Glass

The Yong Runaways

Mickey’s 50 (90-minute 50th Birthday Special for Mickey Mouse)

Donovan’s Kid

Shadow of Fear

The Omega Connection

Born to Run

The Sky Trap

Some of these are on DVD and I have them, but I'm still disappointed that not even Child of Glass will be there. That one's great.

Prince and the Pauper is listed, but nothing about whether or not it's the 1990 Mickey Mouse featurette or the 60s live-action version. Probably the Mickey cartoon.

Most bootleg copies of the film were taken from either the UK PAL tape or Japanese laserdisc because that's basically all that was officially released. Other countries also got the movie, but again only VHS or laserdisc.

And were 4th or 5th generation copies of the original bad bootleg. Would be nice to see in its classic form. Id even be ok with a disclaimer or even a short doc in front of the movie.

Why The Rescuers is not on the list, I'm not sure. It may be a typo.
Maybe it has something to do with that one shot in the film where there’s a nude photograph of a woman that you can barely see. Even then, that’s easy for them to crop out. Beats me, I love The Rescuers.

It is the 1962 Prince and the Pauper on Disney+ !

And sadly, the 117 minute cut of Bedknobs and Broomsticks. Not the longer version released to laserdsic and DVD.
