How about some optimization of space at the top of threads in the mobile view? Here is a side by side of a vanilla site and the WDWMagic site.. adjusted so the graphic header isn't a factor..

View attachment 98455

A good 20% of that is padding... the page icons are also not fitting well to stay on one line

The vanilla site looks extremely dated now. It is cramped, and looks extremely cluttered. At least to us,

We obviously had that look for the last 3 years, but it is time for a change.

The forum look follows the design cues of the main site, which is about clarity and breathing space.

There is still some fine tuning to do, but we are not looking to revert back to the old look.

Meh... besides the moderator tools which obviously aren't shown on the WDWMagic site... and the style of the boxes/text which are just visual design... its all the same elements. But the WDWMagic one spans two lines in two places causing huge waste and I wouldn't call adding super padding everywhere 'decluttering' but to each their own... its just feedback.

A lot of the two line spanning is due to narrow devices like iPhone 5. That small viewport is now end of life and going forward most users will be on wider screens such as iPhone 6.

Yes visual style is always and each to their own, but we are really happy with this look. Perhaps after a while you'll find vanilla is past its time and embrace some space. :)

Are you sure you're in a thread that has unread posts? Because it shows up for me in landscape mode just as it always has.

Yep I went to a thread on mobile, no button even landscape. then went to the same thread on desktop and the button was there.
Maybe it has something to do with how old my Safari is since I am way back on iOS5.x

It may be the smaller screen size is keeping it hidden. It really would be nice to have in portrait mode.

On an ipad 2 air with chrome in lanscape mode the menu bar doesn't always float to the top correctly

It can be overlying the posting box when replying to a post.

Ive seen this on another website too that had a similar js based menu bar... Same exact behavior. So i assume its some sort of browser interop issue.

The site redesign looks great! For some reason, it doesn't scale well on my Windows Phone. The margin for people's avatars leaves a tall column to read the rest of the text. The former mobile version worked flawlessly.

My issues with the fonts weren't present with my laptop (MBPr 15 using Chrome), but my super sucky desktop screen (17inch ASUS 1280x1024) I use in work means I may be getting more productive for the moment. I know people as whole tend to be extremely kneejerk about website redesigns, but I'm not a fan of this at all. I honestly thought the last version was one of the best things around.

HTC 8X running WP8 Using Internet Explorer 11. I think it's simply trying to render the page full-size and running out of room instead of allowing it to scale down to the smaller screen. (720x1280)
There looks to be a viewport sizing bug with WP8. Your viewport is 320 wide, but it is reporting it as 720 wide. The site is then returning you the 720 wide version, which is why you are seeing the avatar on the left and not above the post. But since the viewport is only 320 wide, there is not enough space for it to fit.

I'll have to look into this further to see if there is a fix.

Thanks! It could be just that my phone is scaling it for the screen size rather than the resolution. Turning my phone to landscape mode may have to be my interim fix.

The new design looks great!

The font is rendering quite badly for me on windows (it's fine on a mac and iphone). See screenshot. Is the font Roboto? Roboto always renders badly for me on windows. Most Google fonts render badly for me on Windows. Does anyone have any suggestions? (I'm on a 24inch Dell monitor - dell u2412m)

Hi! That screenshot was from firefox 38.0.5 (up to date). Also looks bad in the latest ie. Chrome is better. I am on Windows 7 Professional.

For what it's worth this is not unique to your website, so it might be my issue, but I'm not the only one with the issue (lots of people have this problem with some of the Google fonts, I have researched it quite a bit in my frustration working with Google fonts!).

Have you had a tinker with Clear Type settings?

Yes, I have tinkered with it a lot. No luck! Thanks, though. I don't expect you to be able to fix this, I just thought I'd see if I was missing something obvious! Thanks again.

EDIT - I fixed it! Apparently Google released an update to the Roboto font in January. I have Roboto installed on my machine, and I needed to update it to this latest version. The font update solved the problem for Roboto. Just letting you know in case this comes up for other people. So sorry to trouble you with this! I love the new site.
