Wedding Photo Question?

My partner and I are getting married in the UK and then heading over to WDW for our honeymoon.

My partner would like to take her dress over so we can get some pictures in front of the castle. Is this something that we would be allowed to do or would we need to get special permission to do this?

Thanks for any advice people are able to give :)

Wedding attire is not permitted in the parks during regular park hours unless you're being escorted in for a private wedding event. The only way to have bridal portraits taken at the Magic Kingdom is to book a session with Disney Fine Art Photography. The current cost for a one-hour Magic Kingdom photoshoot (which must take place before the park opens) is $1,700. This used to only be available to couples who booked Disney Fairy Tale Weddings, but that rule recently changed. There are, however, a limited number of reservations available per day, so it can be difficult to book.

Because of the ongoing hub construction, photos in front of the castle and on Main Street are not currently available. If you book the portrait session, you get photos at the back of the castle, and then choose one of the following routes for three additional locations:

1) Prince Charming Regal Carrousel, Mad Tea Party, and Wishing Well
2) Enchanted Tales with Belle, Be Our Guest restaurant, and Under The Sea - Journey of the Little Mermaid
3) Rapunzel Tower, Haunted Mansion, and Pirates of the Caribbean

Here's a map of the routes:

You will have to do it before or after the park opens. It has to be with a Disney photographer as well. It also pricier if you didn't get married at Disney as well. Also they close off dates to do these photos as well. We were using a Disney photographer for our Disney wedding until they told us they couldn't do photos for us at MK until 3 weeks after our wedding bc they were taking down Christmas decorations outside of park hours then. Was a big deal for us bc we were only using a Disney photographer really for those photos so we used an outside photographer instead and the photos were way better tha. Disney photographers.

Actually I have witnessed a couple in full wedding attire before. They flew in from Japan and came straight to MK after landing (still in her wedding dress and him in his tux)

You will see people in there as the photo shoots sometimes run over when the park opens, we were in the park almost 45 minutes past park opening because our photographer was having fun lol.

Also they allow people in sometimes if the dress is not too big, any time it is a big dress they will ask you to leave for safety, if you have a slim dress with no train you can get away with it if Disney is feeling nice that day :)

It's true that the rule isn't enforced evenly. Sometimes people are allowed in wearing ball gowns, but usually they aren't. Maybe the cast members at the gate didn't know they shouldn't be permitted, or didn't consider it a costume, or just looked the other way.

Things change, I am just going off what I was told when we wanted to do the same thing less than a month ago...

This MNSSHP (Halloween Party) season so the attire rules are a bit more flexible, as costumes are allowed. It would be harder to sneak in for a wedding photo at other times.

For those looking to avoid the $1700 private photo session, there are many photographers in the area who do things like this during park hours for park guests - Although you will not be able to be in a Wedding Dress/Tux.

The only way to be in a real wedding dress and tux is to shell out the big $$$$.

We did the portrait session at mk and hs, while it is pricey it's totally worth it in our opinion. The quality of the photos are awesome and as huge disney fans us infront of the castle in our wedding atire with the castle in matching colour is priceless. The photos were taken befor the park opened with the photographer picking us up at about 5 in the morning, and he was such a laugh we can't speak highly enough of the whole experience
