Wearing one piece bathing suit and shorts acceptable at parks?

Recently my teen told me manners don't matter anymore, I simply said to many people they always will....and better to use them vs. not. As far as dress code in society....LOL personally I am still offended when I see young women and little girls basically wearing nothing but what used to pass as underwear.....Mothers dressed in barely anything with little daughters emulating leopard skin tight bodysuits....it's everywhere. I prefer NOT to see that at WDW and wish it were enforced...I don't look for it, I am much too busy googling at the park itself....o_O.

When I complain about my son's young lady's clothing (or lack there of) he informs me that he will never find a girl who wears skirts to her ankles and tops to her neck. I really do have to remember how i dressed at her age. I am surprised my mother-in-law let me in the door. ;)

Hee hee my MIL got to see me at my preppie conservative best!;) Your son is partially right, but I do know a handful of young 20's that still dress on the conservative end, and most likely it is because they LIKE their Mom enough to dress like her! :D Love your plate!!!:)

Now I won't join the debate of what to wear or what's appropriate but I will say I have seen this fashion around and some bathing suits are being sold specifically for this "trend" in shops... it's a "style" to wear with jeans or shorts. Perhaps this is more what the OP was thinking rather than an actual swimsuit?

Maybe she was even thinking of one like this? (Yes this is an adult/women's suit/leotard sold in a fashion shop here in the UK!)

This is definitely one option that was coming to mind. What I was actually reminded of was some corporate events my husband's company has done. Yes, they involved the beach or tropical theme, but these events are far more formal and have much higher behavior/attire standards than a day in a Disney park.

Not the best of pics...but a nice 1-piece coupled with linen trousers or shorts is what I had in mind.

It's incredible (or not so considering)how many males have gravitated to what in essence is a ladies clothing thread. It's like a subconscious attraction to the idea of a tight costume covering a ladies chest area in the hot sun whilst wearing shorts has attracted all these individuals 'pretending' to be interested in it for reasons otherwise

I of course, being a respectable British, happily married gentleman only joined with the genuine concern for the young ladies well being and only had thoughts about her safety and comfort in the park. The rest of you should feel rightly ashamed of yourselves, tut, tut. Anyone who disagrees with my summing up of the topic can of course meet me in just over a wee'k's time in Hooters near DD to discuss this rather sordid affair further :angelic:
Hooters does have great Chicken Wings. See you there!

This year during spring break I saw three different girls/women be told they would have to put a tshirt on over their one piece swimsuit, two of them had to buy a shirt. while I don't think there is anything wrong with wearing the swimsuit shorts combo,I would think it would be much cooler and more comfortable in a cotton tank top or t-shirt or rash guard type shirt, plus it would be much more convenient wearing some sort of shirt in the ladies room. And starburst you made my daughter want the Ariel suit .

One Little Spark...
Hahaha

Well, I'd say no, even if it's a kid.

Bathing suit is a bathing suit, it is not a shirt top.

Wear an A-Tee or T-Tee over it, at minimum.

No way I'd let my kiddo run around in a bathing suit (even if a one piece, which I won't let her wear a two piece) and some shorts. That's just tacky.

Then again, do you REALLY want men to do the same?

I guess if he just put on some shorts, it would be better?

Welcome to 2015...where pajamas are now acceptable clothing to go out in anywhere! LOL

Seriously though, that is one fashion trend I just do not understand. Why has it become acceptable to look like u have just rolled out of bed...

My husband and I just had this exact conversation last night. I wish people would put a little more effort in to how they look when they go out. The airports have gotten especially bad- early morning flights apparently mean don't bother showering or getting dressed.

We may wear t-shirts and shorts in the park, but they are still tasteful, clean, and we are covered (aka no skimpy shorts etc).

U should see the parents at my sons school! It's down right embarrassing! Parents in their pajamas dropping/picking up their kids from school and I'm all dressed up for work! My wife told me I was the best dressed parent there! LOL

I feel like I used to see girl wearing bikini tops and shorts in the parks seriously all the time maybe 10-15 years ago when i was in my teens and early 20s. Now that I think of it, I don't recall seeing it on my last several trips. Did they crack down on it?

If decently covered and on the young side, fit and trim -----why not.
If old and sagging or stringy or overweight with ripples and bulges-----one would hope not.
