WDW Resort Gym Specs

I'm been sitting on my bum for too long to initiate this thread, but here we go. What I would like to document - and maintain - in this thread is the inventory of weight and exercise equipment available at the different WDW resorts.

Why am I floating this thread? Because I sometimes stay at other resorts and want to know what sort of workouts I'll be able to accomplish while on property. (And, more importantly, to gauge whether or not it's worth using space in my luggage for workout clothing and shoes) I assume that at least a few other WDWMagic forumites are of a similar mind.

Suggested template as a starter (feel free to adjust and offer suggestions so I can update this original post):

Resort

Location

Hours

Report / As-Of Date
: the date of your most recent oberservations

Free Weight details (e.g. number and types of utility benches available, free weight ranges)

Weight Machines (e.g. Type, target muscles)

Other Weight Equipment (e.g. bands, TRX, cable stacks)

Cardio (e.g. number and types of treadmills, ellipticals, bikes, rowers)

Amenities (e.g. anything else the gym offers to guests)

I personally know that finding details of what resorts offer what weightlifting and exercise options can be difficult and that there's a lot of outdated photos and descriptions on the internet.

Caribbean Beach
Contemporary Resort

Having visited nearly every resort gym on property, I'll start. With the biggest and best...the one at SSR.

Resort
Saratoga Springs

Location
Main building area, in same building as the spa

Hours
Open 24/7 - access is with your magicband

Report / As-Of Date:
2019 W & D Half

Free Weight
1 or 2 benches, weights up to 50 I think in the standard increments

Weight Machines
Chest press & fly, shoulder press, leg curl, leg press, Smith. Can't remember if there's an abduction or adduction. Just one of each.

Other Weight Equipment
No TRX, stack that I can remember

Cardio
3 or 4 bikes, 4 or 5 treadmills, 3-4 ellipticals

Amenities
Mats for yoga, exercise balls
Water cooler, towels, sanitizing wipes, sometimes cold washclothes.

I believe most of the equipment is Lifeform - treadmills, ellipticals, weight machines.

And the list of equipment is pretty standard from fitness center to fitness center. Only difference would be number of each.

The "fitness center" at OKW is a converted room. Not spaceous and not a good selection. Avoid it.

I think Grand Floridian and Saratoga Springs have the best gyms at WDW.

I prefer the one at Boulder Ridge over GF. It's bigger and more equipment. And not such a hike from your room. Only 2 bikes at GF.

But hands down, SSR has the best fitness center.

I agree about Saratoga. It's huge and hardly anyone uses it when I was there. I have not been to Boulder Ridge since its new. AK Lodge and Contemporary are very small. I like Coronado but the equipment is so close together. The Boardwalk gym is near the pool and about what feels is a half mile walk from your hotel room.

Life Fitness, that's the name of the treadmills. Love them. If only they had a built in fan...

The walk to the fitness center at AKL from Kidani...no warm up needed, lol.

Agree about CR...feels like an afterthought.

Boulder Ridge isn't that new. It's been around since the original DVC at WL was built, I believe. I love it because it's very light inside from all the windows. GF just seems dark to me.

I agree. SSR's gym is wonderful. ETA: Doesn't Saratoga Springs also have at least one extra satellite fitness center over by the pool with the water tower waterslide? Or is my old man memory failing me?

Very interested to hear if any other resort even comes close to SSR.

FWIW, I always enjoy my time at the GF's gym. Most likely because I have never shared it with more than 3 other people at a time.

If you know any of the details, post em up!

If there is, I've never used it.

I've had to wait for both a bike and treadmill to be free.

The GF and I believe the Contemporary's gyms have posted hours. I've worked out outside of those hours at the GF in the past without any problem, but then again I think I badged in before the official closing time so who knows. I have wondered if they'll send security over if I go in really late at night.

When I stayed at the Contemporary, gym is 24/7 with your room key.
