WDW Power Outage?

I see that too. There is one light in the window at the bottom right hand corner. Well, there is a tree in front of it that you can see bending in the time lapse as the window light starts to show more. Now the camera image is all black and you can see a faint glow of that one window still, but it does appear the park is in an outage.

There are backup generators for 90% of stuff in the parks... especially rides and the like, but there are things that go out (stuff that isn't mission critical).

Evidently the camera wasn't mission critical! :-)

But if you look there is still a light on in the corner, like an emergency light that went on for guests as to not fall down or something...

The power is not out, you just cannot see anything due to the heavu rain, At one point it was raining so hard you could not see anything but dark gray this afternoon. Now because it is night out, you see nothing but black.

wow.... the power went out to the cam... or they shut it off like what my local chennels did to their satlite transmitters... (orlando channels were commin in for most of day....)

I hope the resort guests are having a good time still....

edit: while watching the time laps on weather bug....

look at 19:30... then on 19:45 it starts to go out... finally at 20:00 it is pitch black... this camera got nocked out i think...

If the rain is as heavy as said, then why can that one light still be seen? It makes you think, I saw the it too around 17:00 (5.00PM) on the camera everything was just rain, but you're bound to see some kind of light, and I doubt the camera was turn off since you can still see a light and the date and time is still showing if it were off that would be missing wouldnt it?
--EDIT--
After looking at the camera again and going frame by frame in the past few shots taken, power isnt cut from the camera and the person before who said it was raining too heavy is right, if you look hard you can still see the lights on the swan and dolphin building but it still looks like the epcot sign on SSE is either off or it too cant be seen.

That light is nearest the camera. If you check back now, you will see spaceship earth in the distance lit up.

WDW is getting hit right now. MKT & PhotoDave have been giving updates. Its bad so they signed off. They have been taking pics & video so we'll see what happens.

amazing how bad this is.... (I wonder why it is going this path instead of tampa.... or a path with lesser people)

(MKT was working off a cell... during a huricaine would the cell network work well.... i think it wont... since it was getting overloaded in the tampa bay area last night and early this morning... the network is messed up in the path of the storm for most networks...)

It appears the worse has passed the Orlando area. Are there any updates from anyone in the WDW area? Can't believe the major cable networks didn't show very much from the Orlando area.

The cable networks didn't expect it to hit Orlando they are all in Tampa, I'm sure in the morning they will have reports from Orlando and (crosses fingers) Disney World

yeah, I know, but they usually pull in local video from their affiliates in the different cities. Well, I just hope that all our wdwmagic friends in the Orlando area are doing fine!

My friend Wendy is at Alta at Little Lake Bryan (really close to Chatham, for those CPs in the audience) and she said it was pretty scary, but they're all in one piece... WESH tv had a pretty good report from the scene... but all seems to be well, and according to my sources, everything at Disney World is scheduled to open tomorrow on schedule at 9 a.m. I'll keep an eye on the reports and post back here... as I'm sure will many others.

Sitting here in the boardwalk with the best view of Tower of terror, the Keister Coaster and the Swan that anyone could ask for........

Tonight...all dining was cancelled.......guests were provided dinner by Disney by way of a box lunch.......No shops were open anywhere on property....

Our room allowed us to watch the swan/dolphin hotel all night long... we were watching it as the large lighted sculptures allowd a great relative perspective of the storm.... Somewhere through the 'special' broadcasts of "Brother Bear" and free popcorn for the guests I did notice that the swan/dolphin lost lighting on their larger than life roof top name sakes...... Power flickered for fractions of a second in the rooms here but in the end powere remained on for all areas that were visable, including the Swan/Dolphin. Later in the evening the lighting did return to the hotel tops, so I have to assume that it was an elective decision for some reason, since it looked like the power to the hotels themselves was uneffected.

ANYWAY massive thanks to ALL Disney staff who went without and were more than perfectly professional for many hours today....all above and beyond the call.......Lunch, entertainment, dinner, entertainment, dessert, popcorn, more entertainment......:>

As I told a cast memeber tonite.......can't imagine spending a better 'bad' day at Disney..............

SO...... Bottom line......Absolutely no power outage at the boardwalk, and I am alomst ALMOST certain No power outage at Swan/Dolphin.....

Gotta Love Disney........ They even make History FUN!!!! Strawberry Pina Colada by the hurricane please......... :slurp:

That sounds good. From the other posts of people calling in from the resorts, it appears that everyone is fine, just a little shaken up. I'm sure tomorrow will bring more news and we'll see if any damage was done to the properties.

If you go to the time 20:10 or so on the time laps film its black, where as the night before the swan and dolphin buildings had lights on the roof and the EPCOT sign on SSE was lit , so is it possible for WDW to have a power outage? as they probably wouldnt turn off the lights on the resort if that is so...but then dont they have backup power?

With hundreds of thousands of people without power in the Orlando area alone, I'm sure the power at WDW went out for a bit.

Even if the power did go out, the backup generators very likely kicked in before the power failure would have even been noticed.
