The future of Disney is bright ... It continues to grow and isnt going away anytime soon. I have faith that we will see brighter days.
Disney is still a leading edge theme park ...Disney Springs will change the DTD area immensely and the recent announcement of new lands coming, once completed will change the park dynamics. I have faith they will continue to evolve and never be left behind.
Disney is no different than any other for profit company... They have to worry about stability in the corporation and have the numbers to compete throughout their industry. Its no longer a family led company, times changed a loong time ago with Eisners changes.
Disney has lost Walts vision... Once the company began to lose profits, then lost the Disney family control, it was bound to lose its once mission statement... to have quality family entertainment and provide family entertainment at an affordable cost. Walts vision doesnt count anymore, hasnt come into play for a long time.

Great analysis, I guess we wish it was different but the reality stinks. The problem is its very apparent in certain places and aspects of the business.

Eisner started the process down that road ... got worse after Wells death... then Iger just continued on with the route he took over. Once it started back under Eisner the dye was cast.

Some years ago Comcast was trying to make a move to buy Disney and failed. They eventually went on to buy NBC/Universal. Now you have to wonder seeing the changes in UNI after the Comcast take over, how different would Disney be today if Comcast was successful? Better or Worse?

Walt's vision died with Walt. Somethings cannot be replaced. However, considering that it is still the best and has done many great things that I think Walt would have liked (and some that he wouldn't). That really doesn't matter. The sooner we all realize that the Disney Company is what it is. It will change with every succeeding change of power, but, all things considered hasn't really lost the direction. It's just those that cannot realize that changes happen and cannot get over the fact that the only solid Disney influence that exists is just in the Name of the Company, which I believe is still Disney.

Disney has lost Walt 's vision.. and is now run by the same type bean counters that killed General Motors. They talk of new stuff.. Announce new attractions. but ACTIONS speak louder then words.. three years to build two small rides in MK? pushing over three years for Avatar.. No real time table for MGM 's expansion.. but it's going to be YEARS and not a YEAR.. please do not say that the Disney company doesn't have the money to build both Toy Story and Star Wars land in a year.. they do.. they just DO NOT WANT TO SPEND IT.. it comes down to hiring manpower .. and obviously with Avatar and the MK expansion.. time was NOT a factor.. they assume that you will continue to give them money left and right until the new rides are open. its just now the clientele has now changed.. from serving the lower and middle class to serving the UPPER MIDDLE CLASS and above.. and their prices reflect this as well..

A corporation is an entity, not an individual. Therefore the corporation itself cannot be greedy. The Management, Board of Directors and Shareholders all want as much profit as humanly possible. As long as we keep giving them our hard earned money, they would be idiots not to take it. No one in the Disney Corporation ever forced one of us to pay their incredibly expenses prices on (insert overpriced item here).

When attendance drops or income declines they may take notice. Until then, it's us feeding the beast, not the beast stealing our money.

question is will the quest for more money eventually kill the beast? just like it will take years to re-energize the Parks after they became outdated and in need of new rides, it will take years to recapture the Magic if they lose it. I truly hope this doesn't happen , I have seen many businesses that thought they were invincible be humbled.

All true fans hope that doesn't happen, but it's happening slowly for us. 7 to 10 days every year turned into 5-7 days every other year. Then every other year, then 5 days every 3rd year. The cost has simply become prohibitive for us, but there are millions of first time visitors to take our place and feed the beast until we can afford to get back and feed it ourselves. It will take an economic disaster of world proportions to slow it down.
