WDW Imagineering

Hello. I am trying to find out who to speak to at Disney about the new construction project Avatar at the Animal Kingdom. It was suggested that many WDW employees are members of this blog and might be able to direct me to the right person. I was told to contact Imagineering to find out if a General Contractor has been selected for the construction of the Avatar Project. Unfortunately I don't have a contact individual's name, so they can't put my call through to anyone. Does anyone know whom I should contact? Thank you so much for your help! :) (Note: This is a personal inquiry. I do not work for a contractor or building company.)

Just fyi, even if you do get a hold of them, I doubt they'll tell you anything that hasn't been made public already. Also, I doubt it's going to be easy to contact them...

Thank you Nemo14 and PUSH.

Nemo14, Thank you so much!:) I just tried - but without at last name they don't know who to connect the call with. (The phone operator at Disney is located in California.) I don't know if the Imagineering Dept. for this project is also in CA or in Orlando where the construction would be?

To PUSH, When any company posts for contractors they open up the process to the pubic for bids. So this should be public information, I just don't know who to ask at Disney. So you're right, finding contact info is proving a challenge.

As secretive as WDW has been about this project, I don't see them being willing to give out this info. We don't really know where WDI is in terms of the design process, but even if a GC has been chosen, private companies don't necessarily have to make their bidding process public information unless they want to. Typically on a project this size, a few select contractors will be invited to bid. Usually we don't know when WDW is starting work on a project until the permits are approved.

Thank you RedDad. Looks like you've got an adorable little one there with you in the pic. We started taking our son to Disney when he was just a little older; with his fair skin and blonde hair he could be her older brother. Is she actually strawberry blonde? (Hard to tell in your small photo.) Out of all the things to do at Disney, riding the train and driving bumper cars were his favorites growing up. When he got to middle school, driving the raceway became his favorite. Would have raced all day long if we'd let him. He graduated high school this year and starts college next month. They grow up in the blink of an eye, before you know it college is here!

Why thank you! That was taken during her first trip to WDW back in 2010 when she was 14 months old. She's about to turn 4 next month, so she's growing up too fast! We just got back from her 4th trip to WDW in June, and she loves it almost as much as we do. She's pretty much all blonde - we've figured out that red hair skips a generation in our family, so maybe I'll get a ginger grand-kid some day. I don't even want to think about her growing up and going to college...it's already gone by to fast. Good luck to you and your son!

@JenSue she means Meg Crofton, infamous president of Parks and Resorts.

And she was joking. So don't try it.

I appreciate your telling me. Guess the joke was on me :D I was just trying to find out because my husband is trying to find employment in FL (construction worker). I don't think it's any secret how badly the economy hit the construction industry here in FL. He took work out of state so we could keep our home. We'd like to get him back home. I thought if this project was happening now and I could find out who the contractor was, they likely will be hiring for a project of this size.

Hi Jen - didn't mean to trick you. We blame everything on Meg.

I hope your husband finds work closeby, but don't count on Disney moving very fast on this one. There is a lot of construction going on over at Universal though - might be worth looking into.

I agree with Nemo. UNI is doing much more construction at the moment. Disney has very few projects right now, and Avatar at best is not set to start for a while.

Disney does have an in-house construction group, the Buena Vista Construction Company, but they do not do everything. You'll have to search the Universal threads, but they seem to have a few favorite companies as well.

Thank you to EVERYONE for the Universal suggestion, I didn't know they were building; we only went there once. I'll see what I can find out about their projects.
No hard feelings Nemo14, if I knew more about Disney I would have realized that it was a joke ;) We just enjoy our time we've spent there, but I know nothing about the corporate end at all obviously. :) You've all been really kind and I appreciate it. I'd never been on a Disney forum before.
