I had a random thought and figured id check here, Has anyone ever tried or heard of people sneaking into the resorts after they close? I never really thought about the security system at WDW and can't recall seeing cameras anywhere so was just wondering about it.

Into a theme park? There are cameras everywhere, and security guards check everything every night. Maintenance is there too.

Some have tried, theyve failed.... but there will always be some other idiot who will try. They never learn from others failures and then cry about the consequences. Florida no trespassing laws are Disneys friends.

My guess would be the parks don't ever really shut down to the point nobody is there. Staff likely moving around the parks all night long.

I'm sure it happens, but it probably takes a pretty weird individual with some unique priorities to even want to pull it off. Who has the time or inclination to spend hours hiding in a planter or stand of trees waiting for the park to open again so that you can blend back into the crowd and make it back to a restroom to wash the mosquito bites off yourself? Most people crafty and patient enough to do this will have better ways to spend their days off.

To what end? To say you did it, congrats to you on a meaningless accomplishment. To avoid paying, theft of services and trespass off Disney property for life seems to be more likely outcome than saving one days admission price. But hey, if you are that committed, you should be.

I never heard of sneaking in a theme park after it is closed, but that is asking for trouble. The best way to put it Disney banned someone for life years ago for trespassing into Discovery Island and River Country after Disney that person for posting pictures of those two abandoned places.

Did they ever actually ban Shane Perez or just threaten to?

If they did, it was worth it. His Discovery Island photographs were beautiful.

I'm not sure because of conflicting reports. My point of bringing it up though was showing you can be in hot water with Disney for trespassing.

Just do the opposite in MK. Hang out after official close in MK and enjoy The Kiss Goodnight then leave.

If you hang out in the hub long enough you'll see guards and you'll be strongly discouraged to go anywhere but back down Main Street.

Your magic band won't work on day two...

I'm also curious to what extent a magic band can act as a tracking device for security and whether a band that isn't "seen" by the system leaving the park at some point in the day doesn't trigger some sort of alert.

I'm sure kids are losing the things all the time, dropping them on space mountain or off the ferry boat, so if Disney security doesn't follow up on every rogue band transmission I wouldn't be surprised.

I think I read somewhere that Disney isn't actually using ANY of the local radio functionalities of the bands right now, due to various departments just not bothering to do anything with the available data.

Yup. There is a flurry of activity after hours... from cleaning gum off the sidewalks to replacing light bulbs. Lots of maintenance is done at night.

I know this doesn't answer your question, but being on the closing/park clear team of Epcot...it's pretty awesome knowing there are no day guests left and you are "alone" in the parks.

I'd say within minutes of calling a park clear of day guests, the large doors open and maintenance trucks/vehicles make their way in and do their thing, certain lighting turns on, some thematic lighting turns off. It's pretty cool, glad I was able to do this and experience it.

PS: Don't sneak in, it won't end well for you.

I've spent many late nights in Epcot, just kinda slowly cruising around the World Showcase. If I'm there late enough, I'll encounter park security as they're doing that last sweep. They're very nice, but they make it clear that it's time to leave now!

I guess if you hung around Tom Sawyer Island there has to be some caves you can hide in. I suspect they do a sweep of that but you might be able to dodge them. I wouldn't try it though. Those sort of pranks never end well. Didn't a couple of kids die once swimming back from Tom Sawyer Island after purposely staying over there?
