This may sound like a stupid question, but does anyone know how Walt managed to afford to build all of this? i mean, he was an animator, he didn't earn much money, and the land that he bought (as we all know was very cheap), but he must have got the hundreds of thousands of dollars to pay for the builders, painters, and the other equipment and people to build the park.

As he put it once, he morgaged his own family!!

Basically, starting down low, and slowly rising, the money that was gained from one picture was invested into another.

Walt Disney: And American Original, is a great book that chronicles Walt, in his successes, failures, dreams, realities, and, oh yes, money. :animwink: ;)

how walt paid for disneyland

Walt Disney used the new medium of TV to help fund his dream. His hearly Tv show "Disneyland" was broadcasted during the 50's on the abc television network. This show helped set the stage for Disneyland the park. The ABC tv network also helped fund the building of the park along with his own money from his family, and the sucess of snow white and the other cartoons.
